Diseño arquitectónico de una casa de acogida para mujeres “CASA WARMI” en el cantón PUJILÍ

Abstract

This work develops the architectural design of a shelter for women victims of violence in the canton of Pujilí. This typology seeks to offer a transitory space with decent living conditions, from a perspective sensitive to care. The project is framed within the framework of social architecture with a gender approach, addressing needs that have been historically relegated by traditional institutional models. The research is justified by the urgent need to generate spaces that accompany processes of personal reconstruction, without reproducing logics of confinement or control. In Ecuador, the scarce availability of shelters, as well as their peripheral location and their limited territorial articulation, evidence a structural debt in the face of gender violence. Thus, we propose a design proposal that, from the architectural point of view, contributes to a sensitive infrastructure. A qualitative methodology combining grounded theory and phenomenological approach was applied. The interviews with professionals, the analysis of a case study, the normative review and the territorial diagnosis made it possible to identify fundamental needs for the development of the project. This approach integrated technical and contextual aspects of living in a shelter situation. The proposal proposes a spatial organization based on the domestic scale, with open, accessible and non-hierarchical environments. Strategies oriented to the depatriarchalization of space are incorporated, through project decisions that promote co-responsibility and care, responding to the conditions of the physical and social environment.
