Generative artificial intelligence has changed digital content production and automation processes. In universities, technologies have begun to be progressively implemented in academic activities related to content production, advertising design and digital strategies. The objective of the study was to carry out a comparative analysis of generative artificial intelligence tools used in the production of marketing content by university marketing students in the city of Ambato in the year 2026. The research had a mixed approach of descriptive-comparative scope, with a documentary phase and an empirical phase. 25 generative artificial intelligence tools grouped into five categories were reviewed and a survey was applied to 60 university marketing students. The results showed that tools aimed at text and image generation presented higher levels of accessibility and ease of use, with ChatGPT, Canva, and Gemini standing out as the most used. It was identified that the economic and technical limitations in the premium versions conditioned the use of these platforms and continuous access to specialized content. It was concluded that access, usability and cost were the determining factors for the integration of generative artificial intelligence in the university academic environment associated with marketing.
