Abstract
Introduction: The evolution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is significantly impacting
education, including the field of nursing. Although AI facilitates access to
educational tools, there are concerns about its effect on critical thinking and the
authenticity of student learning. This research analyzed the perceptions and
attitudes of nursing teachers about the use of Artificial Intelligence by nursing
students. Methodology: The study was mixed, descriptive and cross-section al .
It was carried out at the Technical University of Ambato. The quantitative phase
consisted of the application of a validated questionnaire to 28 teachers, while in
the qualitative phase semi-structured interviews were conducted to explore
perceptions about the usefulness, impact and risks of AI. The data were analyzed
with ATLAS.ti and with descriptive statistical methods. Results: Teachers
(89.29%) showed a positive attitude towards the use of AI, considering it useful
to improve learning and personalize teaching. The types of teachers' perception s
were also categorized, which included: perceived usefulness of AI, technological
dependence, impact of critical thinking, personalization of learning, ethical risks,
and experiences with AI. Conclusions: The research highlights a favorable
attitude toward AI, but underlines the need to guide its use with ethical and
pedagogical principles that promote critical and autonomous learning.

Introducción: La evolución de la Inteligencia Artificial (IA), está impactando
significativamente en la educación, incluido el campo de la enfermería. Aunque
la IA facilita el acceso a herramientas educativas, existen preocupaciones sobre
su efecto en el pensamiento crítico y la autenticidad del aprendizaje de los
estudiantes. Esta investigación analizó las percepciones y actitudes de los
docentes de enfermería sobre el uso de la Inteligencia Artificial por parte de los
estudiantes de la Carrera de Enfermería. Metodología: El estudio fue de tipo
mixto, descriptivo y transversal. Se realizó en la Universidad Técnica de Ambato.
La fase cuantitativa consistió en la aplicación de un cuestionario validado a 28
docentes, mientras que en la fase cualitativa se realizaron entrevist a s
semiestructuradas para explorar las percepciones sobre la utilidad, impacto y
riesgos de la IA. Los datos fueron analizados con ATLAS. Ti y métodos
estadísticos descriptivos. Resultados: Los docentes (89,29%) mostraron una
actitud positiva hacia el uso de la IA, considerándola útil para mejorar el
aprendizaje y personalizar la enseñanza. También se categorizó los tipos de
percepciones de los docentes entre ellas están: utilidad percibida de la IA,
dependencia tecnológica, impacto del pensamiento crítico, personalización del
aprendizaje, riesgos éticos y experiencias con la IA. Conclusiones: La
investigación destaca una actitud favorable hacia la IA, pero subraya la
necesidad de guiar su uso con principios éticos y pedagógicos que promuevan
un aprendizaje crítico y autónomo.
