Material didáctico Montessori y el aprendizaje significativo de la asignatura de matemática en los estudiantes de cuarto grado de educación general básica de la Unidad Educativa “La Merced” del cantón Ambato

Abstract
La presente investigación consistió en analizar el uso del material didáctico Montessori
para el aprendizaje significativo en la asignatura de matemática en los alumnos de
cuarto grado de Educación General Básica en la Unidad Educativa “La Merced”, del
cantón Ambato. La metodología aplicada tiene un enfoque cualitativo y cuantitativo,
se trabajó con la modalidad de investigación bibliográfica y de campo. El nivel de
investigación fue exploratorio y descriptivo, se empleó las técnicas de la observación
y la entrevista, como instrumentos la guía de preguntas y lista de cotejo, con una
población de 20 estudiantes. El resultado más relevante es que el uso del material
didáctico Montessori para el aprendizaje significativo de los estudiantes, se conectaron
fácilmente los conocimientos previos que tenían sobre los conceptos y procesos de las
operaciones básicas con los nuevos conocimientos que ofrece la utilización de este
recurso. Como conclusión, los estudiantes mediante el uso del material didáctico
Montessori fueron capaces de relacionar los conocimientos previos de los procesos de
cada operación básica (suma, resta, multiplicación y división), con los conocimientos
nuevos que manipularon y recibieron de este recurso, adquiriendo habilidades,
destrezas, y siendo protagonistas de su propio aprendizaje.
Description
The present research consisted of analyzing the use of Montessori didactic material for
significant learning in the subject of mathematics in fourth grade students of general
basic education in the Educational Unit "La Merced", in the canton of Ambato. The
methodology applied has a qualitative and quantitative approach, working with
bibliographic and field research. The level of research was exploratory and descriptive,
the techniques of observation and interview were used, as instruments the question
guide and checklist, with a population of 20 students. The most relevant result is that
the use of the Montessori didactic material for the meaningful learning of the students,
the previous knowledge they had about the concepts and processes of basic operations
were easily connected with the new knowledge offered by the use of this resource. In
conclusion, through the use of the Montessori didactic material, the students were able
to relate their previous knowledge of the processes of each basic operation (addition,
subtraction, multiplication and division), with the new knowledge that they
manipulated and received from this resource, acquiring abilities, skills, and being the
protagonists of their own learning.
