Abstract
La presente investigación tuvo como objetivo analizar la relación entre las facilidades
turísticas y la ruta Camino del Yumbo rumbo al Chocó Andino, ubicada en el
noroccidente de Pichincha, en el tramo comprendido entre La Mena del Hierro – Nono – Tandayapa – Nanegalito. El estudio se desarrolló debido a la necesidad de
comprender cómo elementos como la accesibilidad, señalización, seguridad,
mantenimiento e infraestructura de apoyo influyen en la experiencia del visitante y en
la funcionalidad turística de la ruta. La investigación se desarrolló bajo un enfoque
mixto, con alcance correlacional y método inductivo. Para la recopilación de
información se utilizaron fichas de observación, inventario turístico, registro
documental técnico y encuestas aplicadas a excursionistas y guías turísticos vinculados
al recorrido. La muestra estuvo conformada por 35 participantes seleccionados
mediante muestreo no probabilístico por conveniencia. Además, la confiabilidad del
instrumento fue validada mediante el Alfa de Cronbach, obteniendo un valor de 0,896
considerado muy bueno. Los resultados evidenciaron que la ruta presenta un nivel
medio de funcionalidad turística. Se identificaron facilidades como senderos,
miradores, zonas de camping, hosterías y espacios recreativos; sin embargo, todavía
existen limitaciones relacionadas con señalización, orientación e información
interpretativa. Asimismo, se determinó que la ruta posee potencial para el turismo de
naturaleza, senderismo y aviturismo. Finalmente, la correlación de Spearman permitió
comprobar que sí existe relación entre las facilidades turísticas y la ruta Camino del
Yumbo rumbo al Chocó Andino. Como propuesta, se diseñó una guía de seguridad y
orientación para el senderista.
Description
This research aimed to analyze the relationship between tourism facilities and the
functionality of the Camino del Yumbo route towards the Chocó Andino, located in
the northwestern area of Pichincha, specifically along the section connecting La Mena
del Hierro – Nono– Tandayapa – and Nanegalito. The study was developed in response
to the need to understand how accessibility, signage, safety, maintenance, and support
infrastructure influence the visitor experience and the tourism functionality of the
route. The research followed a mixed-method approach with a correlational scope and
an inductive method. Data collection included structured observation sheets, tourism
inventory, technical documentary records, and surveys applied to tourists and tour
guides related to the route. The sample consisted of 35 participants selected through
non-probabilistic convenience sampling. In addition, the reliability of the instrument
was validated using Cronbach’s Alpha, obtaining a value of 0.896, considered very
good. The results showed that the route presents a medium level of tourism
functionality. Facilities such as trails, viewpoints, camping areas, inns, and
recreational spaces were identified; however, there are still limitations related to
signage, orientation, and interpretive information. Likewise, the route was identified
as having important potential for nature tourism, hiking, and birdwatching activities.
Finally, Spearman’s correlation confirmed that there is a significant relationship
between tourism facilities and the Camino del Yumbo route towards the Chocó
Andino. As a proposal, a safety and orientation guide for hikers was designed.
