Diseño textil a partir de la incorporación de la técnica del macramé para el desarrollo de lencería de hogar

Abstract

This thesis project is about the development of textile design products for the home, using the macramé technique as a decorative detail. The main objective is to create a line of objects such as wall hangings, cushions, table runners and placemats that combine modern design with an artisanal and handmade touch. Although macramé is an important technique within the project, the main focus is on textile design: thinking about the materials, colors, shapes and functions of each piece so that it looks good in the spaces of the home and also has a utility. What is sought is that these products not only serve as decoration, but also convey emotions and reflect a warmer, natural and personal style. The work process included researching the topic, seeing what products exist in the market, surveying potential users to find out their tastes, and finally designing and manufacturing the products. We also worked on the technical specifications and costs, thinking that this line of products could be marketed. The general idea is to show how a traditional technique such as macramé can be rescued and applied to current textile design, generating pieces that look good, have quality and tell a story. With this, we want to give more value to manual work and offer decorative alternatives with identity.
