Item type:Ítem, Diseño editorial para la difusión de la identidad cultural de la comuna de Maca Chico(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO GRÁFICO, 2026-07-08) ;Oña Yanqui Ginna Alexandra ;García Analuisa DiegoUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO GRÁFICOThe commune of Maca Chico lacks official records documenting its history and traditions, which generates a lack of knowledge of its cultural identity, especially among those who visit it. Most of the existing information is preserved only in the memory of the elderly of the commune, so there is a real risk that it will be lost over time. Faced with this situation, editorial design is proposed as a means to disseminate the cultural identity of the commune of Maca Chico, aimed mainly at national tourists between 25 and 35 years old who do not have any accessible source of information about this place. To support the proposal, a mixed methodological approach was used, for which interviews were carried out with the Department of Culture and Heritage, graphic designers with experience in editorial design and older adults from the commune, who contributed with relevant information. On the other hand, surveys were carried out on national tourists between 25 and 35 years old, which made it possible to identify the most effective visual elements and understand the consumption habits of editorial material. In this context, the information collected helped to design editorial material on which a cultural and tourist guide was made as a basis with additional products that complement the purpose of publicizing the cultural identity of the commune of Maca Chico. In conclusion, it can be said that editorial design serves as a tool that not only allows information to be collected, but also helps to disseminate the necessary information in an organized manner. Therefore, it is recommended to continue documenting the collective memory of this commune and thus promote its dissemination.Item type:Ítem, El Diseño editorial como recurso de registro y fortalecimiento de la identidad cultural de la parroquia Picaihua(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO GRÁFICO, 2026-07-07) ;Mejia Tisalema Carolina Lissette ;Vargas Álvarez Álvaro FernandoUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO GRÁFICOThe present project addresses the issue of limited awareness of cultural identity in the parish of Picaihua, stemming from the absence of editorial materials that document its cultural elements. This gap has resulted in knowledge being transmitted exclusively through oral tradition, leading to a gradual erosion of the sense of belonging among its inhabitants. The study's objectives focused on two key variables: editorial design parameters, treated as the independent variable, and elements of cultural identity, treated as the dependent variable. Data were gathered through bibliographic research, expert interviews, and direct observation, informing the development of editorial materials responsive to the findings obtained. For this research, the deductive method was applied with a qualitative approach, conducting bibliographic research and interviews with experts in graphic design, culture, and key stakeholders from Picaihua, gathering information to support the proposal. From these results, editorial products were developed taking into account editorial design parameters, while the most representative elements of Picaihua's cultural identity were identified for the cultural component. Likewise, once the results were obtained, the design of editorial products was proposed — such as foldable pieces (desplegables) that compile cultural information on the identified elements of cultural identity. Additionally, the guide was produced in digital format, for which supplementary deliverables were designed to promote the QR code for the digital guide, further complemented by value-added gifts. It is concluded that research methods are essential for gathering the information needed to develop the proposal. It is recommended that the contents continue to be updated, incorporating new topics and approaches.Item type:Ítem, Análisis identitario de la vestimenta de la Guaricha en la Fiesta Popular: La Diablada Pillareña(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIA, 2026-07-06) ;Sánchez Hidalgo Dennis Ariel ;Varela Gallegos Sandra CatalinaUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIAThis research focuses on the identity analysis of the Guaricha's attire within the Diablada Pillareña, a cultural expression recognized as intangible cultural heritage of Ecuador and considered one of the most representative festive expressions of the Píllaro canton. The study is based on the premise that clothing transcends its aesthetic function to become a symbolic system capable of communicating values, beliefs, identities, and cultural meanings that strengthen collective memory and the community's sense of belonging. From a theoretical perspective, the research addresses the relationship between the cultural context of the Diablada Pillareña and the construction of collective identities, analyzing how the Guaricha's attire reflects processes of tradition, cultural transformation, and hybridization between inherited and contemporary elements. Likewise, the Guaricha is examined as a festive character who, through her clothing, expresses symbolic representations linked to femininity, transgression, satire, and social critique, revealing tensions related to gender roles and current sociocultural dynamics. The study considers the Guaricha's attire as the independent variable, addressing aspects related to its components, main garments, accessories, materials, tailoring techniques, formal elements, functions, and symbolic meanings. The dependent variable, in turn, corresponds to the cultural significance, analyzed through symbolic and social dimensions that allow for an understanding of the interpretation of signs, cultural values, symbolic representation, cultural identity, sense of belonging, social interaction, and the role this character plays within the festival. The theoretical foundations are based on contributions from authors such as Geertz, Hall, García Canclini, Barthes, Turner, Entwistle, and Bourdieu, who allow us to understand clothing as a visual language and a dynamic cultural manifestation. From this perspective, the research recognizes that the meanings associated with the Guaricha's attire are neither static nor homogeneous, but rather are constantly being reinterpreted due to social, cultural, heritage, and tourism-related factors. Finally, the research seeks to contribute to the understanding of the cultural and identity value of the Guaricha's clothing, highlighting its importance as an element of collective representation, cultural heritage, and a means of symbolic expression within the Diablada Pillareña. It also aims to contribute to strengthening local historical memory and generate academic knowledge that allows for a critical evaluation of the processes of conservation, transformation, and transmission of this cultural manifestation in contemporary society.Item type:Ítem, Diseño de una colección de prendas sastres corporativas con elementos identitarios de la Cultura Puruhá para mujeres indígenas en la Empresa Sueños D’ Novios(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIA, 2026-07-06) ;Quishpi Pomatoca Elsa Petrona ;Guamán Llamuca Carlos AlbertoUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIACorporate clothing in Ecuador responds to standardized norms of Western origin that exclude the symbolic expressions of Indigenous peoples, generating a gap between cultural identity and the formal work environment. The Puruhá culture settled in the Riobamba canton, province of Chimborazo, faces a gradual loss of its cultural identity due to the scarce offer of garments with identity in the local market, this situation intensifies when women of this culture access corporate spaces and must opt for dress codes that do not reflect their cultural legacy. This research aimed to design a collection of corporate tailored garments that incorporate symbols of the Puruhá culture, in order to highlight Indigenous cultural identity. A qualitative approach of descriptive and exploratory scope was used, based on the User-Centered Design methodology, structured in four stages: context analysis, requirements definition, design and evaluation. Focus groups were carried out with Indigenous Puruhá women from the corporate environment, semi-structured interviews were conducted with artisans from the Licto parish and with the owner of the company Sueños D’ Novios, bibliographic sources and observation sheets were reviewed. The results were validated through methodological triangulation. The important symbols that could be reinterpreted were identified: the chacana, the quingo, the elongated rhombus and zoomorphic figures such as the amaru serpent. Users gave priority to vests, loose-cut pants, blazers and coats in a chromatic palette that ranged between dark tones with accents in pink, blue, green, red and yellow. The collection called Kawsay Yuyari was developed through the intervention of industrial embroidery, which certifies the aesthetic and technical feasibility of incorporating the symbolisms of the Puruhá culture into corporate tailored garments. It is concluded that clothing design can function as an instrument for cultural valorization, articulating Indigenous identity.Item type:Ítem, Diseño de un centro gerontológico basado en arquitectura adaptativa dentro del contexto rural en la parroquia Toacaso - Latacunga(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURA, 2026-01-13) ;Chacha Iza Diego Alexander ;Lara Orellana Fausto AndrésUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURAAdaptive architecture and active aging maintain a close relationship, the present research aims to provide a comprehensive space that meets the specific needs of each older adult. The inductive and deductive methods were applied, along with a bibliographic review that made it possible to identify essential criteria for gerontological care, such as accessibility, safety, ergonomics, and spatial flexibility. These guidelines were complemented by semi-structured interviews conducted with key stakeholders, including medical staff, senior-care technicians, a parish board representative, and an external architect, this process played an important role in fostering social integration and provided first-hand insight into the needs of older adults. Additionally, case studies and a territorial diagnosis were carried out, considering geographic, demographic, and urban factors. The integration of these inputs revealed a significant correspondence between theoretical foundations and the real needs of the older population, establishing a solid methodological basis for the development of the preliminary design. The resulting proposal offers an adaptable and functional center organized by modular axes that structure public and private areas, as well as mobile elements that allow the spatial configuration to be modified according to the user activities. Likewise, the relationship between interior and exterior spaces is strengthened through therapeutic gardens, planters, and the use of traditional materials that reinforce local cultural identity. Finally, the project provides a contextual and technical solution aimed at promoting autonomy, social inclusion, and the overall wellbeing of older adults in Toacaso.Item type:Ítem, Diseño de una colección de indumentaria femenina con técnicas de cabuyería en colaboración con los emprendedores “Semilleros(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIA, 2025-07-28) ;Cárdenas Oviedo Gabriela Paulina ;Solís Sánchez Sandra JacquelineUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIAThis research seeks to create a women's apparel collection that incorporates ropemaking techniques, in collaboration with the entrepreneurial group "Semilleros." This project aims to preserve a craft practice that is at risk of disappearing, giving it new value through its aesthetic, functional, and sustainable application in the fashion industry. To achieve this objective, a methodology based on the nine domains of design was applied, which facilitated a detailed analysis of the user, their environment, and the purpose of the garments. Qualitative studies, including interviews, focus groups, and experiments, were conducted to identify the appropriate types of knots, the most suitable materials, and the preferences of the target audience. Throughout the creative process, visual, conceptual, and symbolic elements were established that shaped the collection's proposal. The results show that rope-making, especially macramé, has great potential to be integrated into contemporary textile design, providing artisanal value, a unique aesthetic, and a sustainable approach. Collaboration with local entrepreneurs strengthened the connection between design and the artisan community, promoting both economic development and cultural preservation. Ultimately, the project successfully combines traditional techniques with modern fashion design, generating an innovative proposal that responds to current market demands, reaffirms cultural identity, and protects intangible heritage through design.Item type:Ítem, Diseño de una colección de indumentaria femenina con la incorporación de tejidos en telar y la colaboración de artesanos de puruhá.(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIA, 2025-07-28) ;Caín Velasco María Elena ;Medina Robalino Aylen KarinaUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIAThis project proposes the design of a women's clothing collection that incorporates handwoven textiles created in collaboration with the artisans of the Puruhá people. The initiative is based on three key pillars: the revalorization of cultural identity, sustainability, and collaborative economy. From a cultural perspective, the project aims to preserve and reinterpret handwoven textiles, strengthening the sense of belonging and promoting Ecuadorian textile heritage. Technically, it envisions a fusion between tradition and modernity, integrating artisanal fabrics with contemporary garment-making techniques to create original and competitive pieces. Collaboration with the Puruhá artisans not only ensures the authenticity of the products, but also drives local economic development by generating job opportunities and strengthening community cohesion. Furthermore, social inclusion is encouraged by integrating communities into more equitable value chains. The project's methodological approach is interdisciplinary and participatory, ensuring that the designs highlight traditional techniques and symbolism. It includes market research, prototype validation, and the adaptation of the collection to the preferences of the target audience. In response to the growing homogenization of global fashion, this proposal positions itself as a conscious, sustainable, and culturally meaningful alternative that seeks to revitalize the art of handwoven textiles and offer garments with identity and added value in the women's fashion market.Item type:Ítem, Diseño de una colección de Indumentaria incorporando la técnica del bordado, con la participación de las mujeres de la asociación Simiatug Samai de la provincia de Bolívar(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIA, 2025-07-28) ;Aguilar Guilcamaigua Alison Nicolle ;Sánchez Sailema Erika CatalinaUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIAThis thesis project focuses on the design of a clothing collection that incorporates the embroidery technique, in collaboration with the women of the Simiatug Samai association in the province of Bolívar. The research addresses a bibliographic review of the traditional embroidery technique of Simiatug, a community known for its rich cultural and artisanal heritage. Through a qualitative methodology that combines research, market analysis, and clothing design, the project seeks to better understand the community's cultural identity and the needs of the modern market. The proposed collection integrates traditional embroidery with contemporary designs, targeting a market of national and international tourists who value craftsmanship and cultural identity. The project seeks to revitalize the embroidery technique through income generation and the promotion of its work on local and international platforms. The research results include the identification of the association's main internal management needs and collaboration with artisans, the technical and aesthetic characteristics of Simiatug embroidery, and the preferences of the selected market to define a clothing collection that combines traditional techniques with modern designs. This project demonstrates that the integration of traditional techniques with contemporary designs is not only possible but can also be an effective strategy for cultural preservation and the economic empowerment of artisan communities.Item type:Ítem, Transformaciones socioespaciales en el espacio público en Latacunga durante festividades de la Mama Negra en 2024(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURA, 2025-07-24) ;Herrera Molina Cielo Nayeli ;Sarzosa Soto Richard EstebanUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURAThis research project analyzes the socio-spatial transformations that occur in the public space of the city of Latacunga during the Mama Negra festivities in 2024. The research aims to understand how these popular celebrations, recognized as intangible cultural heritage of Ecuador, temporarily alter the urban structure, reconfigure its everyday use, and promote new dynamics in public and semi-public spaces. The research is based on a qualitative approach, using techniques such as non-participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, mapping, and documentary analysis. Key areas of transformation were identified at two different times of the year (September and November), characterized by symbolic appropriations of space, intensive use of public roads, expansion of informal trade, differences in origin, and temporary reconfigurations that turn the city into a festive ritual setting. The results show that the Mama Negra festival not only physically modifies urban space, but also strengthens cultural identity, activates collective memory, highlights social tensions between the traditional and the institutionalized, and encompasses several axes of transformation. These transformations generate a symbolic re-signification of space, turning streets and squares into territories of community and cultural encounter and expression. The research contributes to the understanding of the role of public space as support for cultural manifestations and promotes the integration of socio-spatial analysis into urban planning.
