This analysis makes it possible to determine the percentage of suitable criteria that allow the space to be continuously accessible and walkable. The study arises from the need to understand accessibility, inclusion, and sustainability, which influence people who travel along the public roadway and also respond to environmental deterioration. Its purpose is to provide a research contribution to one of the most common problems in the urban environment and to support decision making aimed at improving deficient indicators. The evaluation process is composed of information gathering through diverse methods, recording elements according to their location, dimensions, and influence on campus mobility and urban infrastructure. Data systematization is presented clearly and subsequently adapted to the indicators. This leads to an overall percentage for each evaluated consideration, enabling a comprehensive analytical descriptive reading. The results show that both pedestrian and vehicular components present parameters that hinder the desired sustainability percentages. Their relationship reveals that private vehicles still predominate over walkability, highlighting the urgent need for higher priority infrastructure interventions. Furthermore, imbalances in the internal public transport network negatively affect service quality, while findings provide a baseline for future studies and guidelines for sustainable campus planning and encourage policies that prioritize non motorized transport, universal accessibility, integrated transit, safety, equity, and environmental responsibility for students, staff, and visitors across the campus community today and in future planning processes and implementation.Item Diseño de un huerto urbano con fines terapéuticos para mejorar el bienestar emocional de adultos mayores en el Hogar de Ancianos Sagrado Corazón de Jesús(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE INGENIERÍA EN DISEÑO INDUSTRIAL, 2026-01-21) Bonilla Vásconez Andrea Camila; Medina Moncayo Andrés Sebastián; UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE INGENIERÍA EN DISEÑO INDUSTRIALThe project addresses the design of an urban garden adapted to the context of institutionalized older adults, aiming to promote their emotional, cognitive, and social well-being through contact with nature. The research stems from the increasing population of older adults, which has a growing demand for spaces and elements that promote healthy aging. In the context of geriatric institutions, interaction with natural elements is limited due to the lack of accessible green spaces, which diminishes their quality of life and produces feelings of disconnection and isolation. Using the Design Thinking methodology, an environmental and user study was conducted, identifying the need to implement a green solution as a response to the user's physical and cognitive limitations within their immediate environment. The research employed a mixed-methods approach, including document review, environmental analysis through non-participant observation, interviews, and surveys. This approach was necessary to establish a diagnosis based on the concepts of accessibility, functionality, ease of use, and stimulation, which allowed for the development of a functional prototype with an irrigation system and other functional mechanisms. The implementation of the prototype boosted interest in outdoor activities and interaction with other residents and was consolidated as a viable and replicable element in relation to its line of research, which allowed the garden to be considered as a functional complement to the environment of the elderly and responds to the challenges of the current aging of the population.Item Diseño para la readecuación del ¨Centro Integral del Adulto Mayor¨ de la ciudad de Ambato(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURA, 2025-07-24) Solis Bonilla Grace Fernanda; Pico Núñez María Fernanda; UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE ARQUITECTURAThe Comprehensive Senior Center in Ambato is much more than a physical space; it is a place designed to promote the well-being, autonomy, and dignity of a vulnerable and growing population. This center seeks to offer a safe, accessible, and comfortable environment that responds to the multiple physical, social, and emotional needs of older adults. The center's renovation is proposed as a comprehensive architectural intervention that not only improves the current infrastructure but also promotes inclusion and quality of life for its users. To develop this proposal, a comprehensive analysis was conducted, including architectural surveys, interviews with users and staff, and a regulatory study that ensured compliance with national laws and international best practices. The residents' physical limitations, such as reduced mobility and risk of falls, were assessed, as was the importance of spaces that promote social interaction, cognitive stimulation, and recreation. This allowed for the definition of design criteria based on universal accessibility, environmental comfort, the use of warm materials, and the incorporation of biophilic elements. The project proposes the creation of flexible and multifunctional spaces, including green areas, therapeutic gardens, and socializing areas with ergonomic furniture, which facilitate integration and active aging. Furthermore, structural safety was prioritized through the rehabilitation of critical areas and the improvement of access and pathways. The architectural proposal seeks to transform the Comprehensive Center into a benchmark for comprehensive care for older adults in Ambato, promoting their physical, emotional, and social well-being in a dignified and stimulating environment.
