    Incidencia de Toxocara cati en felinos domésticos de la parroquia Veracruz, cantón Pastaza, provincia de Pastaza

    Toxocara, an ascarid nematode, considered highly pathogenic due to the signs it produces, which can lead to the death of the patient. In addition to this, which is zoonotic in nature and important in public health, thus causing serious disorders in human health. That is why the present study was carried out, with the objective of determining the incidence of Toxocara cati in domestic felines of the Veracruz parish, Pastaza province. In order to know the total population of cats, a survey was carried out on the inhabitants of said parish, which resulted in 64 domestic feline inhabitants, of which 55 were sampled. These were classified into three categories: age, sex and parasite control. The diagnosis was made using two techniques, flotation by the Willis Molloy method and by the Direct method, as well as the egg count was carried out by means of the Mcmaster chamber to obtain the degree of parasitosis. As a result, we obtained 14 positive cases for T.cati, which in the age category showed a higher parasite load in puppies under 6 months of age, which corresponds to 64%. Regarding the sex variable, a higher incidence was found in females with 64%. And finally, with the parasite control variable, 100% was obtained in nonwormed cats. The investigation concludes with a 25% incidence of T. cati in the Veracruz parish, Pastaza canton, Pastaza province
