Item Prevalencia de leucemia viral felina (ViLeF) en felinos domésticos (Felis catus) de la parroquia Huachi Chico en la ciudad de Ambato(2024-08) Sánchez Mayorga, Génesis Adriana; Borja Caicedo, Byron EnriqueFeline viral leukemia (FeLV)is a highly contagious disease, which can cause the death of patients; that is why early diagnosis and prevention is of interest for feline health. In order to determine the existence of feline viral leukemia in domestic cats in the Huachi Chico parish, belonging to the Ambato canton, to execute the present study, the analysis was carried out in 60 cats, which were evaluated through a physical analysis and data collection, after which samples were taken using the rapid immunochromatographic test forthe diagnosis, in the cases that were positive, the risk factors and also their hematological variability were taken into account through laboratory tests. Ofthe 60 samples analyzed, 6 positive cases of the virus were registered, determining a prevalence of 10.00%. Among the risk factors that were examined, it was found that there is a significant relationship betweensex, habitat, reproductive status, health status and disease. Unlike age, Which has no statistical significance (p>0.05), that is, there is no relationship with the disease. Through hematological analysis of the samples of the positive cases, the variations linked to the presence of ViLeF were identified, evidencing the influence that the virus has on hematopoietic cells and bone marrow. The statistical data were tabulated in data tables and by means of chi-square analysis to establish a relationship between the risk factors.
