“Programa de ejercicios terapéuticos acompañados de musicoterapia para mejorar la calidad de la marcha en adultos mayores en el Cantón Cevallos”
(Universidad Tecnica de Ambato / Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud /Carrera de Terapia Fisica, 2020-02-01) Jiménez Zúñiga, Carlos Manuel; Espín Pastor, Victoria Estefanía Lcda. MSc.
In older adults the aging process modifies the center of gravity, reflexes, balance, flexibility. These conditions decrease the quality of gait and determine a potential risk of falls in the elderly. This research aims to improve the quality of walking in older adults through a program of therapeutic exercises accompanied by music therapy. This research is of quantitative study, 30 participants attended during 12 weeks of intervention. The evaluation was performed with physiotherapeutic tests Mini Best Test and UP & GO, both were applied at the beginning of the sessions. The last evaluation was made after the last session of the exercise program. An intervention program with exercises in both sitting and standing was designed according to the physical-functional capacity of the population with daily sessions of 45 minutes 3 to 4 times per week. After the application of the protocol of therapeutic exercises accompanied by music therapy and when making the final evaluations it is concluded that positive results were obtained in the quality of walking in aspects such as coordination, speed and breadth of passage in relation to the initial evaluation

(Universidad Técnica de Ambato - Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud - Carrera de Terapia Física, 2019-09-01) Pino Montes, Christian Patricio; Latta Sánchez Lcda. Mg., María Augusta
Osteoarthritis or knee osteoarthritis commonly known is a pathology of degenerative origin that afflicts 3.6% of the population worldwide, characterized by pain, edema in the joint and weakness of the quadriceps which prevents adequate mobility in patients. More often in the knee, there are several risk factors that favour its appearance as age, race, sex, obesity, sedentary lifestyle, overweight and occurs more frequently in female patients from 50 years. There are several treatment protocols that have been promoted by different authors, from pharmacological treatments to multicomponent treatments that include the use of strength exercises (isometric and isokinetic), balance and dynamic exercises; among which the use of isometric exercises in the first phase and isokinetic exercises in the second phase highlight, which allows a better compression in the joint. The period of treatment when using this protocol goes from 2 weeks and can be used in the home environment with periodic monitoring by the physiotherapist. To this end, an isometric quadriceps balloon has been created to help in the isometric exercises giving a better reach to the potential to help patients with this pathology
