(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Dirección de Posgrado. Maestria en la Enseñanza del Idioma Inglés como Lengua Extranjera, 2019-10) García León, Erika Paola; Wilber Orlando, Romero Villarroel
Currently, society requires highly trained professionals in all areas, and the English language is not the exception, that is why students need to learn to communicate in a foreign language. However, the development of speaking skill has not been easy to acquire due to the traditional methodologies such as memorization of dialogues, repetitions, excessive grammatical activities and absence of updated material used during the teaching-learning process of the English language. That is why the objective of this research study is to analyze the Communicative Approach CLT (Communicative Language Teaching) as a method to improve the Speaking Skill in the third level English students of the Language Center of the Technical University of Babahoyo. Therefore, during the research period the researcher established two groups of 30 participants each. The methods applied in this study was quantitative and qualitative. In the first phase, a pretest was applied to know the initial situation of the 60 participants. In the second phase, a post-test was used to determine the influence on improving the speaking skills using communicative activities. The quantitative method was used to know the attitudes of the participants towards the CLT methodology. It was done through a survey which was only applied to the treatment group. Afterward, the data collection and analysis was carried out, and the results showed that the use of communicative activities had a positive effect on the development of oral skills; likewise, the participants said they felt satisfied and very motivated with the implementation of the communicative activities based on CLT approach.

    Kinesthesia in speaking skill development
(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Dirección de Posgrado. Maestria en la Enseñanza del Idioma Inglés como Lengua Extranjera, 2019-02) Muñoz Arboleda, William Fernando; Parra Gavilanez, Lorena Fernanda
This research was developed with the objective of determining the influence of kinesthetic methodological strategies in the development of the students' ability to speak the English language. In this research, a qualitative-quantitative method was used; qualitative because the performance of the students in class was observed; quantitative because the scores obtained in the pre and post test were analyzed statistically. The population was composed of one hundred and ten students and the Pelileo Educational Unit of 8th level, work with parallels A.B-C. In addition, a quasi-experimental research was carried out. Also, this work was developed through a literature and field research. On the one hand, bibliographic because the information about this research was obtained from books already published; On the other hand, the research was field because the whole experimental group was observed and subjected to the use of kinesthesia methodological strategies. The instrument used in this investigation was the oral part of an examination provided by the researcher under the same expert's vadilation that was administered before and after the treatment of the aforementioned strategies. Likewise, a T test was carried out to verify the hypothesis, with the result that the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Therefore, the use of kinesthesia strategies contributed to a better performance in oral production. An improvement was obtained in the parameters presented in the Fluency, Vocabulary, Communication ability and pronunciation test, established in the evaluation instrument

Alternative assessment in the oral production of A2 level students of the Centro de Idiomas in Universidad Nacional de Chimborazo
(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Dirección de Posgrado. Maestria en la Enseñanza del Idioma Inglés como Lengua Extranjera, 2018-07) Rodríguez Durán, María Eugenia; Oye Rotimi, Peter
The Research Project entitled “ALTERNATIVE ASSESSMENT IN THE ORAL PRODUCTION OF A2 LEVEL STUDENTS OF THE CENTRO DE IDIOMAS IN UNIVERSIDAD NACIONAL DE CHIMBORAZO” aimed to examine the use of alternative assessment in the oral Production of A2 level students of knowledge regarding the English Language. The research had a quantitative approach. An experimental field study was carried out, the same that obtained results based on control and experimental groups. This research took place in the classroom. The population consisted of 133 students from second and third level from the Faculty of Educational Sciences of the National University of Chimborazo. The instrument used for this research was a rubric that was used to evaluate the oral production and verify the incidence of alternative assessment in the development of oral production. In order to verify the hypothesis, the chi-square test was used. The results showed that the application of alternative assessment influences oral production. It is concluded that the students had an improvement in their oral production after the application of alternative assessment techniques and the respective use of the rubric.

Project-based approach in the English oral production
(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Dirección de Posgrado. Maestría en Enseñanza del Idioma Inglés como Lengua Extranjera, 2018-07) Robayo Dávalos, Gabriela Alejandra; Sulca Guale, Manuel Xavier
This research work was developed aiming to determine the effectiveness of applying Project-Based Learning activities for developing the students’ English oral production (speaking skill). A quali-quantitative approach was used in this research; the qualitative aspect was embodied by the observation of students’ performance in class, whilst the quantitative point of view regards the statistical analysis of students’ scores obtained in the pre and post-test. Besides, the population was made of fifty-two students from Unidad Educativa Pelileo. They belonged to the A.1.2 elementary level according with the student’s book of the Ministry of Education and were divided into a control group with twenty-seven students and an experimental group with twenty-five learners. Furthermore, a quasi-experimental research was carried out with the implementation of project-based learning activities in English classes. Moreover, this research was developed through a bibliographic and field research. On the one hand, bibliographic because the information on this research was obtained from already published books; on the other hand, field research because there was an experimental group that was observed and subjected to a treatment with project-based learning. Additionally, the instrument used in this research was the speaking part of a Key English Test (KET), it was administered before and after the treatment based on project-based learning activities. In addition, a t-test was carried out in order to verify the hypothesis having as a result that the null hypothesis was rejected and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. Thus, the treatment with project-based learning contributed to a better performance in the students’ English oral production. It also showed a significant improvement on the scores in the three parameters i.e., grammar and vocabulary, pronunciation, and interactive communication established on the instrument used to assess the speaking part (Ket test).
