Carrera de Idiomas., 2015-09-11) Aguaguiña Tirado, Lorena Tatiana; Chimbo Cáceres, Elsa MayorieThere are several ways on how students acquire a second language in a meaningful way in their learning process. The present research shows the way cognitive strategies influence in the development of reading comprehension in students’ of tenth grade from Mariano Benitez High School to improve their learning process in reading comprehension which can facilitate the communicative learning process. After found the problem to be investigated, we proceeded to investigate existing researches or issues related with the investigation. It allowed us base on different methodological approaches. Determining a population of 98 study subjects which allowed to apply two surveys, one for the students and one for the in charge teacher. Then, we proceeded to do the analysis and interpretation of results, which helped me to get the conclusions that cognitive strategies are very important to develop the reading comprehension. For that reason, we recommended to this research the creation of a booklet that contains interactive reading activities based on cognitive strategies to improve the reading comprehension process in the students of English. It will facilitate them their learning process. It is also a good tool for teachers to achieve the goal set in the high school curriculum.
