Due to the need to reduce time and costs in the manufacture of sand molds of the drum and flange that make up the 6-inch Gibault joint, the project presents the model plates, intended for production in the company FUNDI LASER. This was based on ANSI/AWWA C219-11 and ASTM A 126-95 standards that specify the thickness of the drum. For the design process of the model plates, the dimensions of the components were calculated: sprue, sprue, attack channel and exit channel, as well as the behavior of the fluid was determined: speed, Reynolds number, filling time in the mold and solidification time; to validate the design, a simulation of the casting process was carried out in a software, verifying that the design was correct. The construction of the model plates was carried out, selecting the appropriate materials for each component, the components designed were built with materials available in the company, and these were: the A36 steel drum model, the cast aluminum flange model, the A36 steel clamping plates, the sprue, the sprue, the mazarota, the attack and exit channels of nodular iron. At the end of the construction process of the model plates, molds were made in green sand for subsequent casting of the parts in ductile iron and their correct operation was verified.
