(Universidad Tècnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2023-09) Quimbita Quimbita, Lisbeth Paola; Pino Loza, Eulalia Dolores
Ikigai is a little known term but it should be practiced by students when deciding on a university career, human beings should not live only to achieve a biological, psychological and social balance, but they need something more, they need to find the reason for their existence to live a full and happy life, because when they find their meaning in life they will feel motivated to perform academically, This is why this research sought to determine whether ikigai influences the academic performance of students of the Faculty of Jurisprudence and Social Sciences, the study is composed of a sample of 268 students, its approach is quantitative descriptive, exploratory and correlational, where validated questionnaires were used as the Sense of Life Test to measure the ikigai variable, created by Crumbaugh and Maholick (1969) and to measure academic performance was used the RAU scale created by Preciado et al., (2021), instruments that helped us to evidence that ikigai does influence academic performance, in addition most students are in a state of existential emptiness, this emptiness may be more immersed in ages between 19 to 23 years, on the other hand maintain good study habits reflect the characteristics of a good student, however, students are located in a low and moderate level, as for the factors of ikigai if these are clear in students academic performance will be improved.
