Item Representación de la mujer académica en carreras masculinizadas(Universidad Tècnica de Ambato, Facultad de Jurisprudencia y Ciencias Sociales, Carrera de Trabajo Social, 2024-02) Molina Rivera, Solange Stephanie; Paredes Ruiz, Teresa de JesúsCurrently, the representation of women in science is important, several intellectual fields have taken advantage of their theoretical contribution, but contradictorily, in technical careers, social constructs that predominate in these areas continue to be maintained and make female participation obsolete, engineering as such is besieged by the male presence, this has caused barriers and challenges in the development of women both in the educational and labor trajectory in these fields. The objective of this research is to analyze the impact of the representation of academic women in maledominated careers. The object of study of this research is made up of 16 female teachers of the Technical University of Ambato, corresponding to the Faculty of Civil and Mechanical Engineering and the Faculty of Systems, Electronic and Industrial Engineering, where a qualitative approach was used, through semi-structured interviews, an instrument distributed in 5 dimensions, 6 indicators, 8 questions (cultural construction, gender, causes, effects, policies) was applied. The results of the research showed that the trajectory of women who now play their role as university professors have been full of obstacles due to the same stigmas that categorize women for certain sciences, in addition to the new thinking of the generations has derived certain prototypes of masculinity
