(Universidad Técnica de Ambato-Facultad de Ciencias Humanas y de la educación -Carrera de Educación Básica, 2025-01-20) Lescano Barreros Edison Alexis; Chávez Fuentes Carmen Dolores; Universidad Técnica de Ambato-Facultad de Ciencias Humanas y de la educación -Carrera de Educación Básica
The present research aims to analyze the relationship between teacher-student communication and the academic performance of students in the Basic Education program at the "Universidad Técnica de Ambato." The methodology employed was descriptive with a mixed qualitative-quantitative approach, utilizing techniques for collecting bibliographic, documentary, and field data. A structured questionnaire was administered to evaluate types of teacher communication (verbal and non-verbal) and its influence on academic performance, considering aspects such as clarity, empathy, and adaptability in teacher-student interactions. The research line used was social and educational behavior. The study population consisted of 275 students enrolled in the Basic Education program for the 2023-2024 academic cycle. From this population, a representative sample of 161 students was selected, distributed across different levels of the program to obtain representative results from various learning groups. The results demonstrated that effective communication, based on clarity of explanations, the use of gestures and coherent expressions, as well as emotional and academic support, significantly contributes to motivation and understanding of content, thereby strengthening academic performance. In conclusion, the research shows that effective teacher-student communication has a certain impact on academic performance.
