The university stage is considered by many young people as a challenging or critical period. Being exposed to the academic load demanded by their careers, as well as other personal responsibilities, they are subjected to high levels of stress, putting their mental health at risk. On the other hand, dependence on cell phones is also common at this stage, since their uncontrolled use can generate significant problems in the emotional well-being of students. The objective of this research was to analyze the relationship between perceived stress and cell phone dependence in university students, in a sample of 258 people. It was a quantitative study with a non-experimental, descriptive and correlational design. The scale (PSS-14) and the test (TDM) were used to measure the variables. The information collected was analyzed using the statistical program Jamovi 2.3.21 and the results were presented in tables, which indicated that with 95% confidence there was a very low positive correlation between perceived stress and cell phone dependence (Rho(256) = 0.125, p < .05). This research allows for a better understanding of how perceived stress and cell phone dependence interact in the college population
