Abstract
The main objective of this study entitled "Family role and mental health in women who
suffer violence" is to determine the influence of the family role on the mental health of
women who suffer violence in the parish of San Miguelito, neighborhood "San Juan" to
reduce violence within the home. We worked with a voluntary non-probabilistic sample
that included 76 women living in the neighborhood. The methodology that was used was
quantitative through the application of validated surveys and used in other investigations
related to the subject. The Family Functioning Questionnaire FF-SIL” establishes the
type of family that belongs to and “General Health GHQ-12” determines if the user
presents psychological distress. In the results in relation to the community of rural areas,
it is visualized that the vast majority of households are made up of dysfunctional
families, due to the lack of adequate communication and dynamics between family
members, as a consequence, they present feelings that are frequent such as depression.

central problem was found according to different authors, violence is generated by the
power of inequalities that is visualized in gender stereotypes. From sociocultural
constructions or behavior patterns visualizing women as submissive, for this reason they
become isolated from family and society. Several women came to lose the assessment of
their self-esteem. As a result, it was proposed to create a project called "You are a
Phoenix" focused on promoting support networks among women who suffer violence
and developing empowerment through the application of workshops with themes related
to the subject of study.

El presente estudio titulado “Rol familiar y salud mental en mujeres que sufren
violencia” tiene como objetivo principal determinar la influencia que tiene el rol
familiar en la salud mental de las mujeres que sufren violencia de la parroquia San
Miguelito barrio “San Juan “para disminuir la violencia dentro del hogar. Se trabajó con
una muestra no probabilística de manera voluntaria que participaron 76 mujeres
moradoras del barrio. La metodología que se utilizo fue cuantitativa mediante la
aplicación de encuestas validadas y utilizadas en otras investigaciones relacionadas al
tema. El Cuestionario del Funcionamiento familiar FF-SIL” establece el tipo de familia
que pertenece y “Salud General GHQ-12” determina si el usuario presenta malestar
psicológico. En los resultados en relación a la comunidad de las zonas rurales se
visualiza que la gran mayoría de hogares están formados por familias disfuncionales, por
la falta de una adecuada comunicación y dinámica entre los integrantes de la familia
como consecuencia presenta sentimientos que son frecuentes como depresión y ansiedad
afectando al bienestar. Se concluye que mediante la investigación se encontró el
problema central de acuerdo a diferentes autores la violencia se genera por el poder de
las desigualdades que se visualiza en los estereotipos de género. Desde las
construcciones socioculturales o de patrones de comportamiento visualizando a la mujer
como sumisa, por esta razón llega aislarse de la familia y de la sociedad. Varias mujeres
llegaron a perder la valoración de su autoestima. Se propuso como resultado crear un
proyecto llamado “Tú eres un ave Fénix” enfocado a fomentar las redes de apoyo entre
mujeres que sufren violencia y desarrollar el empoderamiento mediante la aplicación de
talleres con temáticas relacionadas al tema de estudio.
