| dc.description | This research adopts a quantitative approach aimed at identifying statistical relationships between capital structure and profitability of manufacturing companies in the province of Tungurahua during the 2020–2024 period. This approach allows for objective and reproducible results through the analysis of secondary financial data from the financial statements filed with the Superintendence of Companies, Securities and Insurance (SUPERCIAS). The sample includes the 10 largest manufacturing companies in the province, selected based on asset classification criteria established by the same institution. The results show that between 2020 and 2024, manufacturing companies in Tungurahua increased their debt and reduced their financial autonomy. At the same time, profitability slightly improved. This suggests that the greater use of debt helped sustain profitability, although it weakened the equity structure. The relationship reveals an unstable balance between risk and return. | |
