| dc.description.abstract | A sense of belonging and organizational commitment are key elements in understanding how workers identify with their institution and engage in their activities. In the university context, both factors influence job stability, motivation, and interest in contributing to the achievement of institutional goals. That is why, in the Department of Social Sciences at the University of Los Lagos, the need arose to analyze how these perceptions manifest themselves and how they relate to each other, considering that the internal functioning of an academic team depends largely on cohesion, participation, and clarity regarding the tasks performed. The research was conducted using a quantitative approach, employing descriptive and correlational levels, and methods such as analytical-synthetic and deductive, applied to a sample of 60 teachers and administrators. To this end, a Likert-type questionnaire was used to assess both perceptions of belonging and the types of organizational commitment proposed by Meyer and Allen (1991), including affective, normative, and continuance commitment. The results showed that staff have moderate levels of identification with the institution and differentiated values in the types of commitment, with affective commitment being the most predominant. In addition, Spearman's correlation analysis showed a positive and significant relationship between the two variables (ρ = 0.319; p = 0.004), indicating that the greater the sense of belonging, the greater the commitment assumed by workers. These findings provide a better understanding of how the internal dynamics of the department work and reinforce the importance of strengthening actions aimed at improving communication, institutional recognition, and opportunities for participation, factors that contribute directly to the development and well-being of academic and administrative staf | |
