Abstract
Nowadays, technology is a tool which is more efficient than others, and that helps to improve
the English level of students. There are a lot of different tools where people have to use the
English language to learn vocabulary. This research was focused in the objective to analyze the
effectiveness of Spotify podcasts in the development of vocabulary skill. This objective helped
to demonstrate how Spotify podcasts had effectiveness in students, and to know if podcasts
could be considered as a tool in class. In addition, it was analyzed the usefulness of technological
resources and identify the tools and activities managed in lessons. Furthermore, this study was
aimed to know about the level of vocabulary in students, and to diagnose if teachers could use
Spotify podcasts as a tool for educational purposes. In the development of this research, a mixed
methodology was applied, which is qualitative and quantitative. Qualitative research method
collected data through a seven questions interview directed to the teacher. On the other hand,
the participants were a total of 15 students from the sixth year of basic school from the “Unidad
Educativa Genesis”. Quantitative data was collected using a pretest and posttest applied to
tudents. The subjects involved were 6 men and 9 women with an average age between 10 and 11 years old. Five classes were used for the treatment and Spotify podcasts as a main tool.
Through the investigation, it was possible to find out that the use of Spotify podcasts for
educational purposes are useful, and it provided opportunities to expand vocabulary through the
frequent use of the tool.
