| dc.description | La semiótica, como disciplina que estudia los signos y su significado, tiene sus raíces profundamente arraigadas en las civilizaciones antiguas. Este campo destaca cómo los seres humanos han transformado objetos cotidianos en símbolos culturales, otorgándoles significados sociales e individuales. Desde las primeras herramientas hasta los objetos de uso contemporáneo, estos elementos no solo reflejan la funcionalidad, sino también valores culturales, tecnologías empleadas y contextos históricos. Los objetos, según la Real Academia Española, son aquello que se percibe o que es materia del pensamiento humano. Más allá de su definición técnica, representan extensiones del cuerpo humano, mediando entre su acción y su entorno. Estas herramientas, como el martillo, no solo cumplen funciones prácticas, sino que portan memorias asociadas a su uso, contribuyendo a la creación y perpetuación de significados culturales. Mi enfoque metodológico se centra en la investigación cualitativa, una estrategia que busca capturar y describir con precisión el contexto en que se desarrolla un fenómeno, conducta o situación. Para lograr este objetivo, he diseñado un análisis semiótico aplicado a una selección de planos clave de la película “Arrival” (2016). Este filme, enmarcado dentro del género de ciencia ficción, presenta una perspectiva única sobre la relación entre el lenguaje y la realidad, convirtiéndose en un punto de partida ideal para profundizar en el estudio de las interacciones entre comunicación, percepción y significados construidos culturalmente | |
| dc.description.abstract | Semiotics and the Study of Objects Semiotics, as a discipline that studies signs and their meanings, has its roots deeply embedded in ancient civilizations. This field emphasizes how humans have transformed everyday objects into cultural symbols, assigning them both social and individual significance. From early tools to contemporary artifacts, these objects not only reflect functionality but also embody cultural values, applied technologies, and historical contexts. The Meaning of Objects Objects, according to the Royal Spanish Academy, are things perceived or that become subjects of human thought. Beyond their technical definition, they represent extensions of the human body, mediating between human action and the environment. Tools, such as hammers, not only fulfill practical functions but also carry memories associated with their use, contributing to the creation and perpetuation of cultural meanings. Homo Faber: Humanity as a Creator Before becoming a rational being, humans were homo faber, or toolmakers. This distinctive ability to shape and transform the environment, beyond merely satisfying immediate needs, sets humans apart from other species. This creative process is both conscious and intentional, resulting in a world molded by human action. Objects become extensions of human physical and psychological capabilities, facilitating life and enhancing control over nature. Methodological Approach My methodological approach focuses on qualitative research, a strategy aimed at capturing and accurately describing the context in which a phenomenon, behavior, or situation occurs. To achieve this, I have designed a semiotic analysis applied to a selection of key scenes from the film Arrival (2016). This movie, situated within the science fiction genre, offers a unique perspective on the relationship between language and reality, serving as an ideal starting point to delve into the study of interactions between communication, perception, and culturally constructed meanings | |
