Abstract
Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) is an excessive and persistent concern over perceived physical flaws, affectin g quality of life, interperson al relationships, an d academic performan ce. Among nursing students, this disorder gains significan ce du e to the emotional and psychological demands of the profession. This study, condu cted at Universid ad Técnica de Ambato, aims to determin e the risk of BDD among studen ts in their fifth to seventh semesters using a validated questionnaire. Prelimin ary results reveal a high prevalen ce of body concerns related to specific areas, exacerb ated by social and digital influences. The methodology included a quantitative, descriptive, an d cross-section al design, employing psychometric tools via digital platforms. This stu d y highlights the importan ce of preventive strategies in vulnerable populations like university students.

El trastorno dismórfico corporal (TDC) es una preocupació n excesiva y persistente por defectos percibidos en la aparien cia física, que afecta la calidad de vida, las relacio n es interperson ales y el desempeño académico. En estudiantes de enfermería, este trastorno adquiere relevan cia debido a las demand as emocion ales y psicológicas de la profesión. Este estudio, realizad o en la Universid ad Técnica de Ambato, busca determin ar el riesgo de TDC en estudiantes de quinto a séptimo semestre mediante un cuestionario validad o. Los resultados prelimin ares indican una alta prevalen cia de preocupacion es corporales relacion ad as con zonas específicas, exacerb ad as por influencias sociales y digitales. La metodología incluyó un diseño cuantitati v o , descriptivo y transversal, utilizando herramien tas psicométricas en platafo r m as digitales. Este estudio subraya la importancia de estrategias preventivas en poblacion es vulnerables como los estudiantes universitarios.
