Abstract
El interés por analizar la relación entre el rubro Servicios de la Balanza de Pagos y el
turismo, nace por la importancia que tiene este sector para la economía ecuatoriana,
por esta razón, el propósito de esta investigación es examinar cuál es la contribución
de las variables relacionadas con el sector turístico en el desempeño de las cuentas
nacionales, con especial atención en el rubro Servicios de la Balanza de Pagos, durante
el periodo 2014-2021. La población objeto de estudio está representada por los datos
que existen en Ecuador referentes a las cuentas Servicios y Viajes de la Balanza de
Pagos y el número de entradas y salidas de viajeros. Se trata de una investigación
bibliográfica-documental fundamentada en datos secundarios, de carácter descriptiva
y correlacional. Las matrices elaboradas para datos secundarios sirvieron de
instrumento para el análisis de regresión lineal múltiple. Como principal hallazgo de
la investigación, se logró evidenciar que los homicidios intencionales ejercen un fuerte
impacto negativo sobre el sector turístico y presenta una relación inversa con la cuenta
Servicios. Finalizada la investigación, se concluye que las fluctuaciones en el corto
plazo que presenta la cuenta Servicios van en sincronía con el comportamiento de las
variables del sector turístico y con el número de homicidios intencionales.
Description
The interest in analyzing the relationship between the Services category of the Balance
of Payments and tourism arises from the importance of this sector for the ecuadorian
economy, for this reason, the purpose of this research is to examine the contribution
of the variables related to the tourism sector in the performance of the national
accounts, with special attention to the category Services of the Balance of Payments,
during the period 2014-2021. The population under study is represented by the data
that exist in Ecuador referring to the Services and Travel accounts of the Balance of
Payments and the number of entry and exit of travelers. This is a bibliographical-
documentary research based on secondary data, of a descriptive and correlational
nature. The matrices prepared for secondary data served as an instrument for the
multiple linear regression analysis. As the main finding of the investigation, it was
possible to show that intentional homicides have a strong negative impact on the
tourism sector and present an inverse relationship with the Services account. After the
investigation, it is concluded that the short-term fluctuations presented by the Services
account are in sync with the behavior of the tourism sector variables and with the
number of intentional homicides.
