Abstract: | The objective of this research was to determine the effectiveness of using Extensive Listening activities to develop the speaking skill. The participants in the study were second-level students at the language center “CTT de los Andes”. The methodology used in this study was quasi-experimental and data was collected by performing a pretest and a post-test taken from the KET (Speaking Part) test, validated by Cambridge to the experimental group and a control group. The difference between the groups was tested using the t-test. As a result of the tests, it was determined that there was a slightly difference between the experimental group and the control group. The difference can be seen in the sig value (P value) which is 0.001 which is less than 0.05. It can be concluded that exposure to English materials by implementing listening extensive activities can have a positive effect on the student's speaking skills to some extent. Therefore, it is recommended that teachers be motivated to use this strategy and also encourage students to engage in extensive listening, because the more exposure students have to English listening materials, the better they will understand and be able to improve their speaking skills. |
