Abstract

Autoimmune diseases are chronic noncommunicable diseases of multifactorial type and have been widely studied since they present a series of complications and comorbidities that make them mostly fatal. The present clinical case analysis is about a female patient of 19 years of age born and residing in the city of Pelileo, of single marital status, secondary education completed, which initially presented loss of consciousness and very frequent headaches and of intensity can; where he went to the Pelileo Hospital and was referred to the Ambato Teaching Hospital for confirmation and treatment of SLE. At the health center, a series of laboratory, imaging and lumbar puncture exams were performed to determine that he had systemic lupus erythematosus associated with lupus nephritis type IV, for which he received pharmacological treatment based on corticosteroids and was hospitalized several times. for continually presenting headaches, joint pain, fatigue and the presence of grade 3 edema in lower limbs; for which the doctors initiated the treatment of pulse with Ciclofosfamida, but the symptoms and musculoskeletal complications were not diminished. After the physiotherapeutic evaluation, the patient presented polyarthralgia and generalized myalgia, muscle weakness, gait and balance alterations; in addition to alteration in the ranges of movement and muscle strength and edema in lower limbs, for which an alternative treatment plan was proposed to improve the quality of life of the patient
