Abstract: | The current research and development work, has as its principal objective establishing if the system of evaluation to be applied improves the academic achievement of students from Santo Domingo de Guzman Educational Unit whose fundamental mission is to give an spiritual and academic formation of quality, enhancing humanistic and christian values, with framed vision in the application of pedagogical innovations, for which various hypotheses were established based on a comparative analysis of the learning outcomes obtained by students, a mixed methodology was also used through a questionnaire, the first stage was about learning evaluation practices from the teachers’ point of view and the second stage was about finding out students’ perceptions, leading to the conclusion that it is necessary and imperative to apply the institutional evaluation system to improve academic achievement, which is important since it synthetizes the methodological application of the pedagogical and evaluative model, that is employed in the didactic intervention of the teacher and the learning outcomes that students attain during the academic formation process and at the end of it to accomplish the legal framework, it is relevant since it is supposed to be united, in the first place, the didactic application of its principles in the teaching activity, through the use of more adequate strategies, keeping evaluative criteria according to the evolutionary development of the student, secondly, evaluation is the basic element to determine the level of acquisition, accomplishments, and improvement of academic achievement that must reflect the learning process based on a systematical and procedural treatment and thirdly, evaluation constitutes a referent to adopt new methodological alternatives of intervention of the teacher inside the classroom for the improvement of the school performance. |
