Abstract: The present researched work is aimed at the intelectual Standard and the development of critical thinking, at the upper basic level at González Suárez high school. The general objective is to determine the incidence of intelectual standard in the development of critical thinking, as well as, the specific objective of knowing, analyzing identifying each one of the variables proposed. The methodology of the researched work is based on the qualitative approach, because it helps to determine the problem through detailed descriptions such as, situations, events, people, interactions, behaviors observed in its manifestations. It is quantitative because of its uses information compilation to prove hypothesis with base in the numerical measurement and the statistical analysis obtained across the surveys applied to the students and to the teachers, identifying that inside the institution exists a low level of the application of the intellectual standards. So that, this research is suggested to implement with an alternative of study a didactic guide of the intelectual standards based on reading exercise to develop critical thinking aimed at raising the quality of education and at the same time reach the intelectual standard focused on a new model of study that helps students to analyze each of the readings, to implement proposed activities and reach a decisive role and contribution to the teachers for their educational work.
