Item type:Ítem, Rehabilitación del edificio de la Casa Municipal de las Artes de Latacunga para actividades museográficas, educativas y comunitarias(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA ARQUITECTURA, 2026-07-03) ;Lisintuña Valencia Jimmy Marvin ;Carranco Muñoz José MiguelUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA ARQUITECTURALatacunga possesses a valuable tangible and intangible cultural heritage, which includes a historic center recognized for its colonial architectural value, churches, plazas, artisanal traditions, and expressions such as the Mama Negra Festival— recognized as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Ecuador—all of which constitute a unique cultural identity in the central region of the country. However, the city lacks adequate infrastructure to enable the dissemination, conservation, and enhancement of this legacy, thereby limiting the development of museographic, educational, and community activities, as well as cultural tourism. In this context, the former Women's Prison, a building classified with partial heritage protection that currently operates as the Municipal House of the Arts, represents an opportunity to address the shortage of cultural facilities in the city through its rehabilitation. This intervention seeks to integrate the historical memory of the site with the contemporary needs of the community within a single space, positioning it as a hub for gathering, creativity, and the strengthening of local identity. To achieve this, the study proposes to diagnose the building's physical and heritage condition, to define intervention criteria that respect and enhance the memory of the site, and to develop a flexible functional program responsive to the community's current needs. The research follows a qualitative approach based on a case study, employing direct observation through photographic documentation, planimetric surveying, and pathology assessment sheets, complemented by a review of national regulations and an analysis of Latacunga's Land Use and Development Plan. Additionally, rehabilitation strategies, relevance, and processes were examined. The theoretical framework is grounded in the restoration theories of Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, which advocate for a respectful intervention coherent with its time, incorporating new elements that dialogue with the original structure. The functional and morphological criteria prioritize the preservation of the existing materiality and the incorporation of compatible contemporary elements.Item type:Ítem, Transformaciones del Artefacto Vestimentario de la Nacionalidad Tsáchila (2001 – 2013)(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIA, 2026-01-20) ;Bonilla Tacuri Lia Paulina ;Solís Sánchez Sandra JacquelineUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIAThis research examines the transformations of the Tsáchila nationality’s clothing artifact between 2001 and 2013, focusing on the sociopolitical changes that influenced its evolution and its role within the Kasama celebration as a system of historical memory and sociocultural adaptation. The study identifies that Tsáchila clothing, once used in everyday life, underwent a process of resignification due to factors such as national political instability, the rise of the Indigenous movement, the institutionalization of cultural heritage, globalization, and the growing influence of tourism. Through bibliographic analysis, the sociopolitical milestones that impacted Tsáchila identity and cultural practices were established. The photographic analysis of the 2001–2013 period reveals material, aesthetic, and functional transformations in both male and female garments, particularly regarding fibers, techniques, colors, and adornments. Finally, through the analysis of the clothing artifact, traditional elements were contrasted with emergent variations, highlighting a process of symbolic continuity despite the incorporation of industrial materials and contemporary aesthetics. The findings show that although Tsáchila clothing has undergone transformations driven by external pressures, it continues to serve as an essential marker of identity within the Kasama and remains a central component of collective memory. This research contributes to the field of intercultural design and cultural heritage preservation, emphasizing the importance of documenting and analyzing clothing as a dynamic system of cultural meaning.
