Fashion illustration has undergone substantial transformations, marked by a continuous pursuit of greater representativeness and morphological accuracy. In previous stages, traditional canons relied on idealized figures that excluded diverse bodily variations, limiting their applicability within inclusive design processes. Currently, the field incorporates perspectives that acknowledge the need to depict real corporeal variations, particularly those of pregnant bodies, whose anatomical behavior requires rigorous technical study. This study focuses on analyzing female proportional canons for their implementation in fashion illustration, emphasizing the morphological factors that affect the representation of gestational corporalities. This analysis is relevant because the anatomical modifications associated with pregnancy demand specific graphic resources that ensure clarity, structural coherence, and visual precision. To address this issue, a qualitative research approach with a documentary–bibliographic modality is developed, complemented by fieldwork. In-depth interviews are conducted with obstetric professionals and designers, along with surveys directed at pregnant users, as well as observation sheets that record the historical evolution of the gestational figurine. As a result, distinctive morphological patterns were identified, allowing for adjustments to proportional canons and enhancing representation in fashion illustration. In this process, the Morpho-S technique, used as a training method, facilitated the understanding of curves, axes, and anatomical transitions through the modulable use of the “S” line. Its application enabled the construction of more coherent figurines adapted to diverse body types, strengthening the development of inclusive and functional proposals within contemporary design practice.

Ecuador is the owner of a circuit of popular demonstrations that partly expresses the cultural baggage of the native peoples. The Octave of the Corpus Christi de Pujilí is part of that cultural heritage declared intangible heritage of the nation in 2001, a sumptuous festival that has jealously guards intrinsic values of the pujilian people combined in a cultural syncretism with manifestations and sacred elements of the worldview of the Catholic world. Demonstration that motivated to deploy a study, deepening in regards to the central socio-cultural components of the celebration. The study “Illustration of the clothing of the main characters of the Octave of Corpus Christi de Pujilí”, essentially results from the empirical and incomplete graphic evidence of the characters (alcalde, prioste, oficial tamborero-pingullero, mama danza y danzante) of the traditional festival, also affecting the ignorance of the symbolic meaning of the character and his wardrobe. Therefore, fashion illustration must be the tool that helps in the illustrated representation of the five popular characters and their respective typical costumes, for which, it was necessary to raise the historical evolution of the aesthetic, technical characteristics (production, materials) and symbolic. Study that will finally be registered in an illustrated catalog, with the contributions provided by one of the country's heritage issues. The study is characterized by being qualitative, which is why the methodology used is field and documentary-bibliographic. The exploratory study agreed to collect deep and pertinent information through methods such as: participatory observation, interview and illustrative elements (photographs, illustrations, paintings) of the cultural suits. As well as, from the epistemological dimension it allowed to contrast and overcome the empirical data of the preceding and the most current version of the typical costumes. The illustrative elements collected and their respective analysis is the preamble to generate illustrations of the selected characters, making use of the expression techniques that were studied in the “fashion illustration” section

The Mama Negra popular festival of the Latacunga City, which is celebrated in the months of September and November of each year, is declared as Intangible Heritage of Ecuador in 2005. It represents a tribute to Las Mercedes Virgin, protector of the city against the threat of the Cotopaxi Volcano. The present research project appears from the designers’ lack of interest in the illustrations of costumes of popular characters. This is due to the scarce knowledge of the meaning of popular festivals. Therefore, it is proposed the creation of the fashion illustration catalogue that is based on the observation of the main characters of the party, possessors of a rich costume in cultural identity. The research methodology is qualitative since a wide field research is performed, using methods such us interview, observation and photographs of costumes. It is also used the documentary-bibliographic research. These will allow to understand better the popular clothing. Then, the analysis of clothing files is made to generate graphic representations of the characters, which permits to set the creative process of the design through a fashion model, with the use of own costume illustration techniques. Finally, it is presented a fashion illustration catalogue of the costumes of main characters of Mama Negra popular party, achieving to expand and revalue the cultural memory.

This subject of study exposes the meager illustration of regional costumes of the indigenous peoples of Ecuador and their impact on the communication of clothing elements. The objective reached is to represent, through fashion illustration, the regional costumes of the indigenous peoples of Zone 3 - Sierra, for which it was necessary to identify the costumes, analyze the clothing elements, and finally, develop a catalog of illustrations. The methodology used is given by the field and bibliographic research, which allowed the exploratory and descriptive research. With reference to the first research method, they were applied: an ethnographic study, survey, and autopsy of product for the study of peoples and their clothing, through these the characteristic attires of contemporary peoples are described, highlighting the morphological differences and of clothing in both men and women. This project contributes to fashion illustration with communication techniques and resources, promotes the communication of indigenous regional costumes using the resource of fashion illustration as the main element, and provides a real look at the garments.
