This is no exception for local automotive mechanics; however, the limited availability of garments that meet their specific requirements has led workers to use clothing that is unsuitable for their job duties. The objective of this project was to design a denim workwear collection that is ergonomic, functional, and protective for automotive mechanics in collaboration with BETO JUNIOR, a company dedicated to the production of denim garments. To meet the users’ actual needs, the User-Centered Design (UCD) methodology was applied in automotive repair shops in the city of Ambato. Field research made it possible to understand these needs through surveys of workwear users, observation sheets of the work environment, and interviews with both users and experts in design and ergonomics, who provided technical criteria for the development of the collection. In addition, an interview was conducted with the company collaborating on the research project. A literature review of denim properties was also carried out to ensure an appropriate selection. Based on an analysis of the results obtained and the methodology applied, it is concluded that there is potential for developing a denim workwear collection that meets the needs of automotive mechanics.Item type:Ítem, Rediseño de una herramienta de corte manual para mejorar la funcionalidad en la florícola Lucy Roses, Cevallos, Ecuador(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE INGENIERÍA EN DISEÑO INDUSTRIAL, 2026-01-21) ;Castañeda Espinoza Sara Emily ;Ocaña Parra Sonia VerónicaUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE INGENIERÍA EN DISEÑO INDUSTRIALThis degree project focuses on the redesign of a manual cutting tool to improve its functionality at the flower company Lucy Roses, located in Cevallos, Ecuador. The proposal arises from the fact that the generic manual cutting tools currently in use do not meet the real functional needs and demands of the workers. This situation affects cutting quality and precision, impacts operator well-being, and reduces the company’s productivity. Using a hybrid methodology that combines UX Design and Quality Function Deployment (QFD), the functional, technical, and aesthetic requirements of the tool were identified and prioritized. These elements were then integrated coherently into a redesign aligned with the contextual analysis and the established design parameters. As a result, a redesigned manual tool was developed that integrates both cutting and defoliating functions, reduces the physical effort required during use, and ensures the level of precision needed. During validation, the tool demonstrated 78% functionality, 80% usability, and a reduction in complexity by half, reaching a value of 6,95. These findings confirm the relevance of the redesign and its contribution to improving the company’s production processes.Item type:Ítem, Diseño de una colección athleisure para la empresa Boho con el fin de extender la oferta comercial(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIA, 2025-07-28) ;Romero Buitron Karla Gabriela ;Solis Sánchez Sandra JacquelineUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO TEXTIL E INDUMENTARIAThis project proposes an athleisure collection for the Boho company. Its main objective is to expand the commercial offering. As part of the process, research was conducted on the company's structure in terms of production, sales, and products, which was carried out through interviews with staff, allowing for the contextualization of its functioning and operations. Likewise, the athleisure line was analyzed, which consists of various aspects that will allow the collection to be developed efficiently, such as its origin, aesthetic and functional characteristics, its occasion of use, materials, as well as the production process with which the line is managed. This involves an exhaustive process of research and conceptualization of existing information, using scientific journals, books, and doctoral theses. The design and development phase is carried out through a project process that includes the creation of mood boards and research into current trends, including the selection of the color palette, supplies, and materials. The incorporation of shapes, colors, textiles, textures, and creative sewing techniques adds visual interest and dynamism to the garments, thus attracting consumers. Finally, the garments are manufactured, which goes hand in hand with a rigorous quality control process to ensure a flawless finish. The collection reflects a blend of two styles, both casual and sporty, incorporating specific details of a casual garment without losing the functionality and dynamism that the user seeks.
