The identified problem stems from local products that do not take into account the physiological and biomechanical changes women undergo during pregnancy, which leads to physical discomfort and a loss of independence. The main objective was to develop a comprehensive solution that combines principles of biomechanics, preventive ergonomics, and the selection of technical materials to improve the quality of life for users. The methodology employed a mixed-methods approach, integrating diagnostic surveys and the use of 3D scanning technologies, which allowed for the identification of an average 8% increase in metatarsal circumference and critical changes in the plantar arch. As a result, a collection was designed based on gradually increasing last sizes, easy-access closure systems, and cushioning structures that optimize pressure distribution. The conclusions highlight that the implementation of specialized footwear not only prevents musculoskeletal pathologies but also enhances the safety and emotional well-being of pregnant women. This technical proposal demonstrates that the fusion of academic design and local manufacturing enables the creation of products with high functional value and competitiveness in the Ecuadorian footwear sector.Item type:Ítem, Diseño de mobiliario urbano elaborado con fibra de vidrio para la optimización de los espacios de descanso en el campus de la universidad técnica de Ambato(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO INDUSTRIAL, 2026-07-06) ;Ramírez Taipe Jonathan David ;Rosas Duque Cristina ElizabethUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA CARRERA DE DISEÑO INDUSTRIALThis project aimed to design urban furniture made of fiberglass with the goal of optimizing rest areas on the Huachi Chico campus of the Technical University of Ambato. This activity demands high physical effort, which in the long term can lead to musculoskeletal disorders in workers. In this context, the manual defoliation process in rose classification, a post-harvest activity, constitutes a high-risk task due to extreme repetitiveness, continuous postures, and the prolonged use of empirical tools lacking ergonomic validation. To address this problem, the research applied a mixed-methods approach with an exploratory and descriptive level, based on analytical and synthetic methods. A purposive non-probability sampling method was used, including the operators of the activity and experts in specific areas relevant to the study. The activity was evaluated through semi-structured interviews and the application of ergonomic methods such as RULA and OCRA Check List. The prototype was developed following the User-Centered Design methodology, where user needs are central to the entire process. The research lines pursued in this study are Design, Materials, Production, Identity, Sustainability, and Applied Technologies. Innovation is present in the research through the design and validation of an ergonomic rose defoliation tool prototype using 3D printing in PETG. This tool stands out for incorporating an actuation mechanism that prevents the hand from closing completely, significantly reducing the force applied and offering a solution adapted to the production context of the floriculture industry.Item type:Ítem, Los espacios interiores en la educación básica y su relación con las actividades de enseñanza, aprendizaje y recreación de la Unidad Educativa Jijón Caamaño y Flores en la provincia de Imbabura en el cantón San Miguel De Urcuquí(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE DISEÑO DE ESPACIOS ARQUITECTÒNICOS, 2026-01-21) ;Gómez Echeverría Isaac Saúl ;López Vaca Luis AndrésUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE DISEÑO DE ESPACIOS ARQUITECTÒNICOSThis research project analyses the influence of the interior spaces of the Jijón Caamaño y Flores Educational Unit in the San Miguel de Urcuquí district, examining the processes of teaching, learning and recreation. The research was conducted using a mixed-methods approach that combines technical measurements of ventilation, lighting, and thermal comfort with qualitative observations, spatial record sheets, and surveys completed by students, teachers, and administrative staff. The findings show that, although the institution maintains a strong pedagogical commitment and an educational culture based on values and respect, its interior spaces have environmental and functional limitations that affect the well-being and performance of users. The main findings are irregular levels of illuminance in many classrooms, inadequate ventilation in most areas, furniture with ergonomic deficiencies, and layouts that do not optimise collaboration. The perceptions of students and teachers point to the effects of the physical environment, which strongly impact motivation, concentration, and daily pedagogical dynamics. Based on the results, a catalogue of interior design guidelines was developed based on the diagnosis, organised into architectural, ergonomic, functional and pedagogical areas. This catalogue is therefore an applied and scalable product containing technical criteria, graphic diagrams and guidelines that help to optimise interior spaces without major structural interventions. It serves as a framework for continuous process improvement, contributing to enhancing the quality of educational environments and students' learning experiences.Item type:Ítem, Diseño de un jig adaptable para optimizar la precisión estructural y mejorar la ergonomía operativa durante el ensamble de roll bars en la empresa Muebles León(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE INGENIERÍA EN DISEÑO INDUSTRIAL, 2026-01-21) ;Tul Laica Wellington Fabricio ;Trujillo Ronquillo Danilo FabricioUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE INGENIERÍA EN DISEÑO INDUSTRIALThis project focuses on the design of an adaptable jig intended to improve structural accuracy and operational ergonomics during the assembly of metallic roll bars at the company Muebles León, located in Ambato, Ecuador. The initiative arises from a production process that, despite complying with the dimensional standards required by AMBACAR, presents technical and ergonomic limitations due to the use of a completely fixed template. These restrictions lead to misalignments, physically demanding maneuvers, and prolonged operational times. The research was carried out using a quasi-experimental approach complemented by principles of Design Thinking, which enabled a clear understanding of the process before and after the intervention. Technical–ergonomic observations, structured interviews, and photographic field documentation were applied. The pretest revealed assembly cycles between 48 and 50 minutes, along with a very high ergonomic risk level according to the REBA method, associated with inclined postures, manual lifting, and the absence of mechanisms that allow controlled rotation or inclination of the structure. In response, an adaptable jig was designed, incorporating a dual mobility axis, an independent inclination system, and calibrated clamping mechanisms, while preserving the original template approved for automotive use. The implementation of the prototype under real workshop conditions reduced operational time to 35 minutes, improved dimensional stability, and decreased the physical strain experienced by the operator during welding tasks. The results show that industrial design, applied from a user-centered perspective and validated through a quasi-experimental process, can generate direct improvements in efficiency, safety, and assembly quality within metalworking environments.Item type:Ítem, Diseño de una estructura modular plegable para mejorar la adaptabilidad y eficiencia espacial en restaurantes con espacio reducido(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE INGENIERÍA EN DISEÑO INDUSTRIAL, 2026-01-20) ;Gavilanes Barragan Steven Celino ;Moya Jiménez Roberto CarlosUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE INGENIERÍA EN DISEÑO INDUSTRIAL“Al Paso” is a fast food restaurant located in downtown Ambato that operates in a reduced space where food preparation, customer service, and storage activities occur simultaneously. This condition is common in contemporary gastronomic businesses affected by urban densification and increasing rental costs, making space optimization essential. In this context, modular folding design represents a viable alternative to improve spatial efficiency and user experience. The study is framed within the research line of Design, Materials, Production, Identity, Sustainability, and Applied Technologies, adopting a mixed-methods approach that integrates staff interviews, customer surveys, and structured direct observation. The results revealed limited circulation, low adaptability of existing furniture, inefficient use of space, and ergonomic constraints. In response, a design proposal was developed based on an integrated methodological framework combining Design Thinking, User-Centered Design, and Biomimicry 3.8 from a functional perspective. The contribution of this research lies in the development of a biomimetic modular folding structure inspired by principles of folding, compactness, and adaptability, focusing on system performance rather than formal imitation. The proposed solution improves workflow organization, enhances spatial flexibility, and increases usable workspace. Digital validation and functional testing of the physical prototype demonstrate that industrial design can effectively support the transformation of reduced gastronomic spaces through adaptable and functional solutions.Item type:Ítem, Análisis de fajas ortopédicas para el tratamiento de escoliosis idiopática en adolescentes de 11 a 18 años(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE DISEÑO INDUSTRIAL, 2026-01-14) ;Hidalgo Campaña Vanessa Soledad ;López Vaca Luis AndrésUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE DISEÑO INDUSTRIALThis study analyzes the use of orthopedic braces in the treatment of idiopathic scoliosis in adolescents aged 11 to 18 years in Tungurahua, Ecuador. The aim is to evaluate how different brace models impact therapeutic adherence and propose design improvements. Idiopathic scoliosis affects many adolescents, and treatment effectiveness heavily depends on the adherence to orthopedic braces. However, current models show deficiencies in anthropometric fit and comfort, limiting tolerance and affecting social acceptance. This study addresses these gaps and seeks to improve existing models. A mixed-methods approach (quantitative, qualitative, and observational) was used, involving 15 adolescents from the "Máster Cracks" Chiropractic and Rehabilitation Center, who were evaluated on six different brace models. Key factors like fit, functionality, and social acceptance were analyzed. Results showed that braces with self-adjusting systems and breathable materials significantly improved therapeutic adherence and tolerance to prolonged use. Discreet designs enhanced social acceptance and improved self-esteem. It was identified that 85% of the braces had deficiencies in anthropometric fit, suggesting the need for customized designs for the adolescent population in the region.Item type:Ítem, Diseño de una estación de ensamblaje modular para optimizar el armado de mobiliario en melamina en talleres pequeños de carpintería(UNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE DISEÑO INDUSTRIAL, 2026-01-14) ;Villavicencio Soria Luis Andrés ;Chaca Espinoza Wilmer GonzaloUNIVERSIDAD TÉCNICA DE AMBATO; FACULTAD DE DISEÑO Y ARQUITECTURA; CARRERA DE DISEÑO INDUSTRIALThis project aims to design a modular assembly workstation to optimize the assembly of melamine furniture in small carpentry workshops.
