This degree project focuses on the redesign of a manual cutting tool to improve its functionality at the flower company Lucy Roses, located in Cevallos, Ecuador. The proposal arises from the fact that the generic manual cutting tools currently in use do not meet the real functional needs and demands of the workers. This situation affects cutting quality and precision, impacts operator well-being, and reduces the company’s productivity. Using a hybrid methodology that combines UX Design and Quality Function Deployment (QFD), the functional, technical, and aesthetic requirements of the tool were identified and prioritized. These elements were then integrated coherently into a redesign aligned with the contextual analysis and the established design parameters. As a result, a redesigned manual tool was developed that integrates both cutting and defoliating functions, reduces the physical effort required during use, and ensures the level of precision needed. During validation, the tool demonstrated 78% functionality, 80% usability, and a reduction in complexity by half, reaching a value of 6,95. These findings confirm the relevance of the redesign and its contribution to improving the company’s production processes.
