Carrera de Biotecnología, 2023-03) ;Sancho Cando, Alexis VladimirFernández Rivero, DanaeThe medicinal properties of plants have been used since ancient times for the treatment and alleviation of diseases, providing until today their health benefits. The present study is focused on the anti-inflammatory properties of turmeric root and ginger, together with the microencapsulation method to enhance the bioavailability of the extracted metabolites. The optimal extraction conditions were obtained from a factorial design, where time and ethanolic concentration were evaluated. From the determination of the best extraction treatment and using spray drying technology, the bioactive compounds of the plant material were microencapsulated. The efficiency, yield and concentration of plant metabolites of the microencapsulation were evaluated. Using the Folin Ciocalteu method, the concentration of total phenols was quantified (142.37 mg AG over grams of microencapsulation), with which the percentage efficiency of the microencapsulation was determined, which was 69.87. Likewise, the concentration of total flavonoids was determined by spectrophotometry (17.93 mg QE. over grams of microencapsulation). The anti-inflammatory activity was evaluated by means of an in vitro protein denaturation inhibition assay. This assay used diclofenac sodium as a control, thus obtaining an inhibition percentage of 69.67% of the microencapsulation. Thus, the present research demonstrated the anti-inflammatory effect of the plants studied, in addition to the fundamental role of the microencapsulated metabolites they possess, and their applicability in the development of medicinal alternatives for the treatment of inflammatory conditions.Item type:Ítem, Microencapsulación de mezcla de aceites de cáñamo, girasol y sacha inchi rico en CBD(Universidad Técnica de Ambato. Facultad de Ciencia e Ingeniería en Alimentos y Biotecnología. Carrera de Biotecnología, 2023-03) ;Ortiz Guerrero, Luis EduardoLópez Hernández, Orestes DaríoSeveral molecules of the hemp plant, such as CBD and THC, have been shown to be effective as treatments for psychiatric and other conditions such as sleep disorders, migraines, cancer pain, seizures and skin diseases. However, social stigma about the cultivation and consumption of this plant limits access to these treatments despite the fact that CBD has no psychoactive properties. The present study focused on making a microencapsulated product that combines the medicinal benefits of the hemp plant with the addition of sacha inchi oil, which is rich in fatty acids and vitamins, as an added value. To this end, an emulsion was made from a mixture of hemp, sacha inchi and sunflower oils together with gum arabic and maltodextrin, which fed a spray dryer to obtain a whitish powder, obtaining a yield of 63.87 percent in the best treatment, Subsequently, tests were carried out on the microencapsulated product where it was determined that it obtained an average humidity of less than 1.5 percent in the first week after it was obtained and 2.9 percent after 10 weeks of storage, it was also obtained that the fluidity of the microencapsulated product was not very acceptable even after the application of excipients to improve the fluidity, finally an infrared FTIR-ATR test was carried out where a good level of microencapsulation was qualitatively determined. Carrera de Ingeniería Bioquímica, 2022-09) ;Guevara Freire, Karen AdrianaCarrera Cevallos, Jeanette VerónicaThe Laboratory Neofármaco of Ecuador is a pharmaceutical company, which stands out for producing a wide variety of products, especially based on natural active ingredients, one of its natural products is the box of Matico tablets, made from Matico extract as API (Aristiguietia glutinosa), which, having flavonoids among its compounds, acts as an anti-inflammatory, antifungal and gastroprotective. However, Neofármaco, being a drug manufacturing company, must comply with good manufacturing practices (GMP) for its correct operation, standards established by the WHO, FDA and ARCSA. One of the many standards they must comply with is to validate their cleaning processes, mainly to avoid cross-contamination and microbiological contamination, especially if the same areas and equipment are used to manufacture different products. For the same reason, the cleaning validation of the Matico tablet manufacturing route has been carried out. It was demonstrated that the cleaning process does not leave soap residues, through the analysis of traces of detergent, and visual verification was also carried out. For sampling through the swabbing method, the characteristics of the swab were determined: absorption capacity (0.3401 mL), absence of swab interference, recovery test 96.54 percent, determination of the acceptance limit (75 ppm). On the other hand, in the analysis of samples, it was determined that the limit is not exceeded, in addition, no microbiological contamination was witnessed.
