Item Cooperative learning and speaking skill(Universidad Técnica de Ambato-Facultad de Ciencias Humanas y de la Educación-Carrera de Pedagogía de los Idiomas Nacionales y Extranjeros, 2022-03-01) Mayorga Valle, Johanna De Las Mercedes; Alba Paulina, Hernández FreireThe current research study aims to analyze the influence of cooperative learning in the improvement of the speaking skill in 10th grade EGB at Unidad Educativa “Atahualpa”. Furthermore, this study had a pre-experimental design and a population of 21 students. This study had a duration of three weeks of intervention in virtual classes through the application of zoom. During the intervention, a pre-test and posttest taken from Cambridge Assessment English level A2 KET was applied to measure the oral skills presented by the students. For this, a standardized rubric was used in which three scales were measured; grammar and vocabulary, pronunciation, interactive communication, all of them over 15 points. Additionally, students were taught implementing cooperative learning strategies and given the opportunity to practice speaking skills. The results showed that the experimental group had a significant improvement in their oral skills because the students obtained higher scores in the post-test. Consequently, it can be concluded that cooperative learning strategies were useful to improve speaking ability, this strategy provided students with a more harmonious environment within class and improved communication. Therefore, this research had a positive impact.
