    Sistema de gestión de seguridad vial basado en la norma ISO 39001:2013 para la Compañía de transportes Pesados Líderes de Cotopaxi TRANSPELIDCO C.A.

    ABSTRACT Traffic accidents resulting from transport activity, especially heavy cargo, cause deaths and serious injuries leading to great economic and human losses, therefore, the main objective of this research is to develop a road safety management system based on the NTC ISO 39001, for logistics and operations area heavy transport company Líderes de Cotopaxi TRANSPELIDCO C.A. The project is based on a quali-quantitative focus, starting in an unstructured interview to obtain required information that helps to define a baseline of the company's current safety road, in turn, a checklist is drawn up approached on the requirements of the international standard mentioned, in order to obtain the compliance percentage in every chapters. According to the results obtained from the initial diagnosis, the company's compliance percentage is 14.26 percent, since most of the activities they develop do not have the required documentation as they are unaware of the system's parameters. In addition, the results show that Chapter 8: Operation has a higher percentage of compliance because they carry out several activities that contribute to its compliance, to improve the general norm’s compliance percentage with each clause by establishing strengthening actions, such as the elaboration of a Road Safety Management System Manual with 13 procedures, 32 records and 1 instructive documents that facilitate the performance of TRANSPELIDCO C.A.'s operational processes. Finally, it is concluded that there is a need to implement the documentation of the road safety management system, since it will help to plan and control the processes aimed at road safety, and will also make it possible to reduce or eliminate the risks of accidents due to the road mobility of the company's employees, in this way, the company will avoid having higher economic costs associated with road accidents and the social cost related to road accident.
