Dr. PhD.The optic nerve is one of the important structures that make up the visual system and is responsible for carrying electrical signals from the retina to the central nervous system, any alteration in this area causes visual deficit to a greater or lesser degree, depending on the part affected and the intensity of the damage. The identification and early diagnosis help to diminish the negative effects on the development, emphasizing that 80% of the visual problems can be preventable and treatable. Visual stimulation is a technique that requires the development of a plan of specific activities that seeks to improve and take advantage of the use of the visual remnant, which conditions the development and skills of the child. The present clinical case analysis deals with a 4-year-old female patient, who presents severe alteration of the optic nerve transmission in both eyes. It resorts to sources of primary and secondary information; through the analysis of the clinical history, review of pre and postnatal backgrounds, family pathologies and cabinet exams performed. The critical points of his attention are described and a plan of visual stimulation is designed, starting from a previous evaluation using the Scale of Visual Efficiency of Dra. Barraga (1975). The proposed visual stimulation activities are based on the author's guidelines and the individual needs of the girl.
