    “Estudio comparativo entre el método de coloración Giemsa y Warthin Starry para la identificación de Helicobacter pylori en muestras de biopsias gástricas en el hospital IESS Ambato”.

    The present research project was carried out with the objective of comparing the results obtained with the Giemsa and Warthin Starry staining method in the identification of Helicobacter pylori in gastric biopsy samples at IESS Ambato Hospital, considering that their early identification may prevent the development of gastrointestinal complications that may become irreversible. A retrospective, descriptive study with a cross-sectional and field study was carried out, with 50 gastric biopsy samples from patients younger than 65 years old who went to the gastroenterology area to perform high endoscopies in the period of January-June 2016, that of the total of the sample, the 36% were positive to the identification of Helicobacter pylori, while 64% were negative using the method of Giemsa staining method, whereas with Warthin Starry staining method, the 60% were positive and the 40% were negative to the identification of the microorganism. Where of the 30 tests confirmed with Helicobacter pylori, 60% were identified by the Giemsa staining method, while 100% were identified with the Warthin Starry staining method, establishing the last as the most reliable and as the routine staining method for the identification of this microorganism that is related with lesions of the gastric mucosa with risk of developing lesions and pre-malignant conditions.
