Item Autoestima y comportamiento socio afectivo(Universidad Técnica de Ambato-Facultad de Ciencias Humanas y de la educación -Carrera de Psicopedagogía, 2025-01-20) Torres Muela Nayeli Alejandra; Indacochea Mendoza Luis René; Universidad Técnica de Ambato-Facultad de Ciencias Humanas y de la educación -Carrera de PsicopedagogíaThe present research, titled “Self-esteem and socio-affective behavior in students of Upper Basic General Education at Unidad Educativa “Sagrada Familia,” aimed to analyze the incidence of self-esteem on socio-affective behavior. The study population consisted of 116 students. The applied methodology followed a mixed approach: exploratory, descriptive, and correlational in nature. The research design was nonexperimental and cross-sectional, with a bibliographic-documentary and field research modality. The instruments used for data collection were the Lucy Reidl Self-Esteem Scale (α=0.82) and Elena Gismero’s Social Skills Scale (α=0.88). The results were recorded by totals, dimensions, percentiles/scoring benchmarks from both scales to measure the levels of self-esteem and social skills among adolescents. To test the hypothesis, Spearman’s Rho Coefficient was applied using the SPSS statistical software, selecting the most relevant and significant data, where the null hypothesis was rejected, and the alternative hypothesis was accepted. The conclusion indicates that self-esteem indeed influences socio-affective behavior. Therefore, it is essential to raise awareness and strengthen self-esteem, improve emotional control, and foster a positive environment. Additionally, it is recommended to increase interactive programs, intervention plans, and experiential workshops on the topic, as well as socialize the teaching guide with psychopedagogical strategies for students.
