    The current investigation demonstrates the importance of practicing physical and recreational activities during eld, undoubtedly all over the world the number of elderly people is increasing. Dejectedly, eld is associated with a periods of physical inactivity and illness; such erroneous idea provokes that elderly people avoid doing physical and recreational activities, limiting this group to develop a healthy life style, without realizing the decrease in their physical, emotional, and affective being. Therefore, this situation aggravates the health of their bodies as well as their minds, generating negative repercussion in the organism. In this way, recreational and therapeutic activities as an essential component during eld, for this reason in the current study were determined recreational and therapeutic necessities of elderly people and the importance to develop these activities in a target place designated to take care of their health. Additionally, it was determine that some of the physical and recreational characteristics of such place in order to suggest the establishment of inner spaces where elderly people can develop diverse activities framed in their well-being with a therapeutic and recreational perspective. In Ambato city, elderly people do not have adequate spaces to exercise or unwind, in consequence there are few elders who can find diverse recreational activities out of their homes. For this reason, is important to provide optimal surroundings to develop actions that enhance a healthy and active aging process. Through the proposal, this research intends to return their autonomy and a plenty existence during this vital stage of life, ample with experiences, traditions, knowledge. On the other hand, this investigation benefits not only to elders, but also permits to give a new meaning to the building of ex- IESS hospice, its history, and relevant performance in the live on thousands of people in the province. For being a architectonic patrimony in the city, due to this was the place where many people was treaded after the outrageous earthquake occurred in Ambato. As a technique of investigation, it was applied individuals analysis and edification meanwhile for the collection of data it was used surveys, interviews, anthropometrical and goniometrical charts where it was obtained evidence of the recreational and therapeutically requirements in elders. In addition, after analysing the whole information it was applied a design in the inner spaces in concordance with recreational and therapeutic needs of elderly people in IESS hospice, in order to provide settings where these people can stimulate their mind and body creating social relationship bonding with nature, it means that elders can improve their physical, emotional, and affective aspects as an active being and change in society.
