Introduction: Graves' disease (GD) is an autoimmune disorder at the level of the thyroid gland characterized by hypersecretion of hormones which leads to its presentation by a remarkable Merserbur triad, its incidence is in approximately 2% of the population being higher in women with respect to men. Its diagnosis must be timely and can be made by means of quantification of thyroid profile values and a thyroid ultrasound, the therapeutic scheme must be individualized with the purpose of maintaining the thyroid hormone values within normal ranges. Objective: To perform a literature review to describe the diagnostic methods and therapeutic strategies for GD. Methodology: for the present bibliographic review, different databases were accessed, obtaining a total of 60 articles according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 35 articles were discarded, obtaining a total of 25 sources of bibliographic information including scientific articles, systematic reviews, meta-analysis. Conclusion: being an autoimmune disease, the most important in this pathology is a timely diagnosis, to establish an individualized management either with antithyroid drugs, radioactive iodine therapy or thyroidectomy.
