In methodological terms, a qualitative perspective was used, with a non-experimental cross-sectional design and a research approach focused on the analysis of cases in the city of Ambato. We used methods such as the documentary study, through bibliographic files to collect the literary legacy, and the situational study of the tourism market using a SWOT matrix. The findings enabled the identification of twelve significant literary works of modernism in Ambato and evaluated Ambato's capacity to establish literary routes, highlighting strengths such as its geographic position and cultural heritage, and opportunities such as increased domestic tourism and interest in local products. It was determined that Ambato has a valuable contemporary literary heritage that can be used for the creation of thematic and innovative tourist routes that enhance the tourist experience and establish a sustainable cultural tourism model, highlighting the importance of combining literary stories with the city's emblematic sites.
