The present technical project deals with the construction of a propulsion system for a two-seater electric car UTA-CIM17, the same one that is intended for the institutional use of the Technical University of Ambato in the campus of Huachi, where mechanical and electrical components were implemented in the body of the vehicle, making use of the new alternative energies that we have today for ground transportation and technological innovations in order to reduce pollutants to the environment and reduce the noise of vehicles on the streets. It has been started from scratch together with the other systems by studying and analyzing the different components for its selection. The propulsion system of the electric car, is composed of a direct current electric motor, a differential and a transmission system pinion - chain, such system in its selection is certified under the ISO 9001 standard, this system was assembled together with the other systems that make up the group project of Design and construction of the twoseater electric car CIM-17. For the propulsion system assembly, the axes of the differential are assembled to the drums of the tires, the input shaft of the differential is connected by means of pinions and chain to the engine which is embedded in a base designed for it. Finally, functional tests were performed to verify its correct operation.
