The present investigation compiled necessary information such as structural and architectural plans to carry out a performance analysis of the building A of the Facultad de Ingeniería Civil y Mecánica that was built in 1984. Based on publications such as FEMA 356, FEMA 440, ASCE 41-13 and NEC-SEDS 2015, a structural modeling of the building was developed through construction plans with the help of the 2016 ETABS, where linear and non-linear considerations were taken, for the definition of the demand, response spectra and accelerograms properly selected and adjusted according to the demand of the building used as a study center. For each case of nonlinear analysis, two models of plastic hinges are assigned: a model established by ASCE 41-13, and another method known as the fiber hinges. The results of the pushover and response history evaluations are compared with parameters such as: levels of damage, displacements, drifts and the behavior of hinges in the frame sections. It is concluded that the plastic Hinges applied with the method of the tables of ASCE 41-13 have a conservative behavior in relation to the application of plastic hinges by the fiber method, this at the same time this kind of analysis takes longer time of computational analysis, in addition it is determined that in the FICM building there is no correct design of the connections between beams and columns, which leads to a fragile failure, and that plastic hinges occur first in columns and then in beams, a rather critical issue
