    ABSTRACT This research proposes the SMED technique in the washing process of the company Ecuatintex, focused mainly on determining the current working method and proposing a new working method, which optimizes the processing times of the operations and helps to improve the productivity of the company. Initially, an analysis of the current situation of the company is carried out, through direct dialogue with the people involved in the operational processes and direct observation of the activities they carry out throughout their working day. In this way, the processes are surveyed to determine the current working method for the service studied, using method engineering tools such as the process flow diagram, synoptic and analytical course diagram. By means of the information gathered from the operations that are currently being carried out, a time study is carried out to determine the productive and leisure time of both the operator and the machines, in order to establish the cycle time for a batch of jeans and obtain the current productivity. Finally, by applying the SMED technique in the washing process, the processing time is reduced, which contributes to an improvement in productivity. Furthermore, in setting out the current and proposed working method, the parameters established in the man-machine diagram are simulated in FelxSim software with the aim of measuring the efficiency proposed by the new method and corroborating the calculated results.
