    La seguridad y salud ocupacional en el sector de calzado de la provincia de Tungurahua

    The province of Tungurahua is characterized by having most sectors focused on the production and transformation of raw materials, being the manufacturing and footwear sector, reaching a high percentage of the national economy, which is why it is essential that the processes of executed production as well as guarantee quality in the products offered. The present investigation has been carried out in order to inquire about the current regulations of Occupational Health and Safety in such a way that the occurrence of work accidents of the footwear sector artisans of the province of Tungurahua can be reduced. In Tungurahua, the shoe production sector accounts for 44% of national production, a percentage that equates to 44 out of 100 pairs of shoes manufactured in Ecuador having Tungurahua origins, therefore, generates the greatest number of sources of employment becoming essential the care of each of the employees and producers, belonging to this sector. Through the prevention of occupational hazards is aimed at avoiding as much as possible the accidents of a labor nature that may occur in the companies of the sector, in addition to the evaluation or mitigation of those that can not be eradicated, which starts from an efficient choice of the machinery to be used, the concrete design of the work and production procedures as well as the safety devices that the employees must use, with the purpose of protecting and guaranteeing the welfare of the employees.
