Carrera de Ingeniería Industrial en Procesos de Automatización, 2022-02) Ocaña Ramos, Franklin Sebastián; Naranjo Chiriboga, IsraelThis invest igat ion Project’s main goal is the development of a productivit y improvement plan, by using Lean Manufacturing tools, starting with the initial diagnosis of the company which reveals problems in the packing and storing área, including considerable time spent preparing the machine and non-programmed stops that produce problems in the process, lack of order and standarization of processes, resulting in the low productivity shown and`the bad management of the available resources. A study based on documental research was conducted which allowed to determine what kind of waste were the problems attributed to; also a Preto diagram was performed to find out which of them were the most relevant in the company. Having found the wait ing, transportation and defect wastes, 5’s philosophy and SMED were used to reduce the activit ies that don’t generate value. Likewise there was a field investigation, verifying in person the problems in the packing process, including the misuse of the machinery, so that it was decided to use TPM to find failures or damages through the 6 losses, showing a bad maintenance and minor stops in the process and eliminating them with preventive maintenance and standardization to improve the machine performance and be able to increase its available time, thus boosting its production capacity form 16 bags/hour to 17.94 bags/hour. Also, applied investigation was used to confirm the time reduction of 20% in the FlexSim simulation, ths increasing productivity from 3.08 to 3.15 for the line 1 flagship product. Currently, the company packs 60 500gr bags of quinoa, that represents an income of approximately $15.342,60 weekly, with the proposed study, this could increase productivity in 0.07, which means the packing activity increases to 81 bagsa week, representing an income of about $20.716,60 weekly. In other words, an increase of $5.370,00 a week.
