    Complicaciones de la desviación septal en adultos

    Complications of nasal septal deviation in adults constitute one of the most common pathologies in the world, the main risk factor being traumatic injury. The main complications include respiratory difficulty, nasal obstruction, snoring, epistaxis, respiratory infections, hearing problems, thus giving a series of medical, functional, aesthetic and psychological problems in adults, for proper diagnosis it is necessary to use techniques such as rhinoscopy and the Cottle maneuver, in terms of treatment and clinical management, focuses on relieving the symptom s of septal deviation and surgical resolution allows septoplasty to correct septal deviation, improving quality of life and avoiding complications. Methodology: A descriptive review article was developed, for which a search process was carried out in electronic databases, 28 articles published in the last five years were selected, including retrospective, descriptive studies and meta- analysis. The Objective is to know the theoretical foundations related to the complications of nasal septum deviation, its risk factors, diagnosis and treatment. Conclusions: Deviation of the nasal septum occurs in 43% in young adults, with respiratory difficulty being the main complication, facial trauma is the main risk factor, the diagnosis is based on an adequate clinical history and physical examination; Surgical resolution through septoplasty significantly improves the quality of life of these patients.
