Receiving a diagnosis of Parkinson's can have a significant impact on emotional and social well-being. The person may experience a wide range of emotions, such as shock, sadness, anger or fear. Emotional support and understanding from family and friends are critical at this stage. Parkinson's disease can affect social relationships. Difficulties in communicating or participating in social activities due to motor symptoms can lead to isolation. However, with appropriate support and understanding from others, it is possible to maintain meaningful social relationships. Challenges associated with the disease, such as limited movement and dependence on caregivers, can affect mental health. It is important to address mental and emotional health, whether through therapy, support groups or other strategies. Support from healthcare professionals, including neurologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists and social workers, is critical to managing the disease and improving quality of life. It is worth mentioning that psychosocial development in the context of Parkinson's disease involves emotional adaptation, management of physical changes, preservation of social relationships and comprehensive mental health care. Emotional support, understanding and access to appropriate resources and treatments are key components in coping with this neurodegenerative disease
